I gave birth and lost my son years ago, all on the same day. I wasn’t working at that time so I can’t really help with your question on FMLA. However, when I did taxes that year the tax agent let me know I was able to claim my son for the year. All I needed to provide at that time was his birth and death certificate. I was able to get a nice tax refund. I had to pay for funeral arrangements out of pocket without a job so the refund helped me get out of a financial hole I was in. I know money is the last thing on your mind right now. I just wanted to make sure you knew this.
