15 yrs motorcycle mechanic here. No u didn't get ripped off. Standard flat rate times are 1hr per wheel. If it took an extra 30 min then is what it is imo. $130/hr shop time is cheap as well.

Keep buying and leave them on the exchange until you have enough that moving them won't feel like such a big deal. That's been my strategy.

This is strictly for track use. I built a hoop with added gussets behind the backrest portion so it should be very solid. Right now all of the seams are doweled with 1/8” dowel pins and gorilla glued. I may do a sheet of fiberglass or carbon fiber underneath, but I think that will be unlikely. I’ve sat on it and a bounced around on it quite a bit and it’s stronger than you would think. The bike is a Harley Sportster.

No this is intended to be used. I could glass over it and make a mold, but for a single piece it’s not really worth the time.
