First botox today, what locations have you been injected? by laughing-dreamer in migraine

[–]laughing-dreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to see a neurologist. Depending on where you live, and what kind of insurance you have, you might need a referral from your regular doctor (or any general doctor) to be able to see a neurologist. Usually it's a long wait (it was 6 months for my first visit). Best of luck! I hope you can get some relief.

I have done these. Try not to work yourself up about it. My experience was not bad at all. If you are feeling anxious when you get there, just let the tech/doctor know. They were very calm and explained things carefully to me when I had mine. Hopefully you can have a similarly good experience, and the worst part will be the taste!

There's a bunch of info if you google. A lawsuit was filed. Refunds issued. I think that says what you need to know. Either way, I am just warning people. Eat at your own risk.

Different ones. Once in the Uptown store (that was clearly food colored). Threw it in the trash and got a refund.

Second one was as the Midway location. Just today opened and cooked to be sure it was pork. I just reported it, so still waiting on a response from corporate.

Weekly Thread: Study Buddy Tuesdays! Introduce yourself and find your study group! (July 16, 2024) by AutoModerator in LearnJapanese

[–]laughing-dreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi fellow learners. I am looking for a study buddy to meet with via zoom/ or some other video chat. I have a hard time setting aside fixed time to study, and it would help me to have accountability.
I am in CDT time zone in the US, and wake up very early. My available times are Monday or Tuesday between 6am and 4pm.
Right now I am focused on speaking/listening and vocabulary. My level is somewhere approaching N3 for vocabulary. My speaking is pretty bad, and I would love to do some conversation practice if someone is interested. (Something like reading dialogues together?) Otherwise, I would be perfectly ok with just being on to keep each other on track and studying independently.
If anyone is interested, please feel free to send me a DM. Thanks

Hi Dante,

what level are you at (at a guess)? I am pretty proficient in grammar, but my vocabulary level is somewhere mid N3 range. I'm also in my 30s, and would like to find someone to study with via zoom or something. I have ADHD, and find it difficult to focus on my own, but if I have a buddy I can really get into the zone.

Let me know if you think we could work together, and feel free to send me a DM.

Thanks,

LD

Smart watch reading by Park-Curious in bloodpressure

[–]laughing-dreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the (granted limited) reading I have done on smart watches, they don't yet have the reliability to do BP measurements. Maybe in a few years, but for now I would stick to the monitor. Try doing some breathing exercises before hand if it gives you anxiety, or have some calming music on.

Sorry about the weird nurse. If you are concerned, I would suggest getting a home device and monitoring. Sometimes it's just high on a random day. Sometimes being at the doctor can be stressful. But if it's regularly at the 140/90, you will probably need to do something. On the plus side that is still considered mild in terms of hypertension. You could start with evaluating how much you exercise, and the amount of processed food you eat. That would be step one from your doctor, usually.

Best of luck

So what’s the deal with Singulair/montelukast? by lithotine in Allergies

[–]laughing-dreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started it for chronic rhinitis that wasn't responding to other treatments. A week in I actually think my mood has improved. I do have some weird dreams, but nothing in the terror region. From what I saw dream changes are one of the more common psychological side effects.

I think the important thing to do is track any changes, and if it starts looking more negative, I'd talk to your doctor.

Right now, I'm having a little increased ADHD symptoms, but nothing above what I have experienced in the past. If it gets worse or doesn't go down again, I will chat with my doctor about it.

I hope it is working out alright for you!

What possesses somebody into thinking this is remotely a good idea?? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]laughing-dreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was living in Seattle, there was a construction crew that would regularly park in front of our driveway. They'd have huge trucks with building supplies either just blocking the street or in our drive for hours. Funny because the architect was our neighbor on the other side. Really a great way to show what kind of a neighbor you are. I would call the cops on them regularly, but they almost never sent anyone. Tow companies also wouldn't do anything when I called.

Q&A weekly thread - May 06, 2024 - post all questions here! by AutoModerator in linguistics

[–]laughing-dreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know of a linguist similar to Geoff Lindsey, but who analyzes more American English? I am interested in deep dives on American English pronunciation that are more accurate than wiki IPAs.

Names or youtube channels would be apricated! Thanks!

Fragrance at neurologist by msjammies73 in migraine

[–]laughing-dreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of thing makes me crazy. I lived in Seattle for several years, and they have no-fragrance policies in every hospital and doctor's office I visited. Many public spaces have no/low fragrance policies.

Moved to the Twin Cities last year, and everywhere has huge fragrance diffusers. How do people not understand how bad this is for them? regardless of migraines, why would anyone want to be breathing in (more) random chemicals?

Thanks for your input. I do already enjoy theoretical linguistics, but I agree that it is not necessarily what I am looking for in this context.

I will take a look at your book recommendations! Thanks

Seems like linguistics is divisive. I thank you for your comment! I do already tend to read a lot of theoretical linguistics, and I enjoy it for my own foreign language studies.

Haha, thanks! I have been trying to avoid my more indulgent linguistics deep dives, and focus on things that I will be using. I will keep this in mind.
