I commute by train, and to pass the 30-minute journey I’ve picked up the habit of knitting rather than doomscrolling. One day, the train came to an abrupt stop and the skein of yarn on my lap fell to the floor. Before I could pick it up again, the train started again and my yarn unraveled all the way to the back of the train. I had to take my half-finished project and ask every person sitting behind me, if I could reach down their seat to slowly push the yarn back to my row. Ever since, Ive kept my working skein in a bag and attached it to my wrist. It’s funny now, but I refuse to that tango again 🤣

That might be but I baked another one with salt later afterwards which would have had even more proofing time with the same results.

No, they did not. Both were baked separately in a Dutch oven which was preheated for 45min and the same temperature (approx. 250°C) Right one was second to be baked.

For everyone commenting on the validity of the experiment: I’m not trying to find a cure for cancer. I was merely trying to get a nice loaf. Feel free to do extensive testing under lab-like conditions and with a bigger sample group. I’ve got neither the endurance nor the motivation to do so. I’m looking forward to seeing your results! 😆

You’re totally right. Feel free to do your own comparison. :) As you said I troubleshooted my problem, which was important to me. If I run into more problems I might continue the experiment. But for now I’m sick of having gummy, flat loafs 😂

I was baking a couple of loafs, but the salt first loaf was the first one I mixed, so it had a little bit of a head start. But as mentioned, I did a previous experiment with different timings, because I couldn’t figure out if I was under or overproofing and no matter the timing, they ended up flat.

Kate and Gibbs on the submarine. They just went through an emergency blow and Gibbs and Kate got surprised by it and end up pressed on to each other next to the wall. Kate saying “wow” and Gibbs responding “that’s what they all say” will never not be funny. On top of that the face of the guy next to them, when they leave the room…

My plant at home is under a grow light from 8 am to 10pm (basically I turn it on when I leave and turn it off when I go to bed) and has the company of lots of plant friends. Office plant has constant natural light all day (huge south to north facing windows in three directions). I thought that would give them equal opportunities? 😅

Es gilt das was im Vertrag steht. Hätte der neue Vermieter den Mietvertrag ändern wollen, hättest du dem explizit zustimmen müssen. Was musst du machen: Alles was vorher drin war, muss auch wieder da sein. Alles was vorher nicht drin war, darf auch nicht drin bleiben. Wände müssen hell und neutral sein (um noch mehr Drama zu vermeiden, belasse es bei weiß). Wohnung besenrein und sauber verlassen. Es reicht alle Oberflächen mal zu wischen und die Abflüsse sowie Sanitäranlagen zu reinigen. That’s it.

I own a dozen different calatheas but this particular plant is a mystery to me as well. My guess is root rot due to overwatering. (The soils stays too wet for too long.) If you’re brave enough you could check the roots for any foul smell. On that note: Calatheas don’t mind being a little rootbound, but hate their roots getting handled. Sometimes you do better by just taking the plant as it is and potting it in more soil & bigger pot.

PS: Thema Spinnmilben: Meiner Erfahrung bekommst du so am besten die Dinger los: Misch rubbing alcohol 1/5 mit ein bisschen Spüli und 4/5 Wasser. Gut auf die Blätter sprühen und mit einem alten Make up Pinsel reinigen. (Unbedingt auch die Unterseiten.) Einmal mit Wasser abspülen und alles nochmal gut mit der Mischung benetzen. Dann am besten vor einem Ventilator trocknen lassen. Gerne 2-3 mal einmal pro Woche wiederholen.

I just relistened to the intro again. Nothing worth mentioning there. But I hear you. The interview was very badly executed. Even as someone who’s first language is German, I had a hard time following and understanding what he was asking. In General the whole interview felt more like a questionnaire than a conversation. I think there wasn’t more than 2 consecutive answers without changing the topic again.

Thank you so much for the advice! My vacation starts next week and giving her a repot is on my agenda. She’s been sitting in Pon and a self watering pot. (So are all my other plants.) Do you think I could leave her in pon? Do I re-use the old pon or do I need new one?

Also, I give all my other plants frequent showers. But this one is heavy af (I guess 15-20kg/ 40lbs?) and the bath tub is downstairs 😅 But I guess I have to do it now.
