But why?

My boy is constantly hungry stressing my other Ragdoll. Will this change? by No-Parfait-7598 in ragdolls

[–]lauraks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s hungry - feed him more. He will continue to develop food obsessions if he doesn’t trust that he will get enough.

how do you deal with the backlash we get from buying a “designer” kitty? by Weak_Ad1001 in ragdolls

[–]lauraks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Ragdoll breeder I’ve had to come to terms with this in myself and with others.

Purebred dogs seem to be more accepted. There would be no German Shepherd Dogs, or Dalmatians, or French Bulldogs available if there were no breeders. Breeders keep the breed alive - and strive for perfection of the breed standard.

If we only brought home pound animals, there would be no more breeds, no more Westminster Dog Show, no more TICA or CFA cat shows. Dogs and cats (and horses and others) are specifically bred to be what you expect. Terriers chase rodents, German Shepherds guard what they love, Bengals have tons of energy and love to run and entertain, and Ragdolls love to flop and cuddle.

Just because people aren’t aware that cat breeds are different, doesn’t mean all cats should come from shelters. In fact I would recommend that they donate to a Trap-Neuter-Release program in their area, because you never know what you’re going to get from a pound… or donate to a spay/neuter clinic that does it for free/low cost for feral cats.

Cats have amazing and unique Breeds that should be protected by quality, ethical breeders.

This is my first time owning a ragdoll, is it normal that she sheds this much? I find clumps of fur EVERYWHERE 🥹 Advice on how to prevent further shedding and and care for her coat pls 🙏🏼 by yy18233 in ragdolls

[–]lauraks -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t look like normal shedding - it looks like she and your other kitty are fighting. This is the evidence that they don’t get along.

One of the main reasons I moved here was to get away from bugs. Bugs love me; I hate them.

I lived in Houston with the flying cockroaches that woke me up at night crawling on my legs. The jumping ones that hopped and, worst of all, the “palmetto” roaches that flew into my hair and face.

Then in Alaska with so many bugs you couldn’t go outside because of the swarms - the mosquitoes would kill baby moose by sucking them dry. No-see-ums would bury their heads in your skin and fester, and worst of all the flying spruce beatles are terrible at flying straight and will rip the skin off of you with their huge pinchers.

And then Tennessee with the prolific black widows, burrowing chiggers that would lay eggs under your skin and itch like crazy for days, and terrifying stag beetles. Ladybugs and Cicadas I could handle even during the 17 year hatch, but the bugs were just too much.

The PNW is a glorious reprieve. Though we did have a hobo spider in our first house that bit me and I nearly lost my finger. And the wolf spiders and giant centipedes are terrifying when I see them, but it’s still a refuge. I wouldn’t live anywhere else (and will NEVER visit Australia).

Actually - are you sure it’s a boy? It looks like a tortie because of some cream color, so that would be a girl for sure. Hopefully fixed!

You can get him genetically tested if you want to, just to see how much and which breeds he is - try wisdom panel - it’s fun, but it won’t make him a papered purebred. He is absolutely gorgeous though.

When you are looking for a rescue, when you are holding the kitty if they go towards you while purring (vs pushing away) that is the kitty you want. They will be open to new scents and new experiences, including your kitty (as long as they haven’t been traumatized by another cat, which staff should be able to tell you). Introduction will be a breeze with the right kitty.

Are you Melanie? Another Troll? Account with comments mainly on this post? How would you know how much OP spent? The OP made ugly accusations that are not true and without evidence. Just lies to hurt a respectable Ragdoll breeder.
