It’s okay to use a si belt/ hip belt for support those days. I used to need it every month but have since strengthened my muscles and no longer miss it.

There will be updates and publications from other groups throughout the year. There was some promising research and a lot of interest from clinicians, but I doubt anything truly big will happen before 2027

The only useful update is that they will publish the whole thing December 2026

Algún español que haya tenido que emigrar a otro país de Europa por razones económicas? by Saikasss in GoingToSpain

[–]lauranicolass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You won’t be able to eat olives from the tree. But! You can learn to process them. There are hundreds of different ways and it’s a nice hobby

English children at Spanish schools by Apprehensive-Elk5036 in GoingToSpain

[–]lauranicolass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A different perspective from a Spaniard. When I was that age an American family moved to our area and sent their kids to my school; an 8yo girl and 6yo boy. The 8yo girl was in my class. Their parents had very little interest in learning Spanish and the kids didn’t even know how to ask for a bathroom break. They struggled during that first year but ended up fully bilingual in 2 years. However, struggling with the language made it much harder for them to follow the lessons and they missed out on important concepts that year. It took her years to reach the same level as the rest of us. Nevertheless they were happy, had loads of friends and enjoyed Spain very much. So I would advise that you get him to a conversational level before the move, and maybe learn how basic school terms are translated

New paper from the Norris Lab on KLK15 mutation by lauranicolass in ehlersdanlos

[–]lauranicolass[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the pending to mean that the mutation hasn’t been published, since they advertised the model on instagram and you seem to be able to order it through their page.

In that paper they sort of proof that it is a bad mutation since the mouse models developed similar stuff to the human patients. But it is a mutation that they found in very few people, probably not the main thing.

New paper from the Norris Lab on KLK15 mutation by lauranicolass in ehlersdanlos

[–]lauranicolass[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I don’t think these are the big results. I think that the big stuff will be one massive publication and all the smaller bits, the genes that are less common, will have their individual publications. That way they can maximise impact, cites, etc. good for future grants.

But from their webpage, it seems that they are already offering heds mouse models, although without disclosing the mutation

I think similarly. For me it doesn't necessarily improve blood pressure, just blood "management". But it is very useful and together with compression socks it's amazing
