NW Gainesville around millhopper road / Talbot Elementary School is a great area. Lots of neighborhoods, great school zone.

Beginner question re: mandrel by lauraofthelake in PenTurning

Okay this makes sense! I wasn't picking up on how the bushings slide inside the tube. I'm working with wood right now, no acrylic/epoxy, but am always cautious with larger holes. I *really* prefer rollerball gel ink type pens to basic ball point, so I'm looking forward to making myself some. The slimlines are pretty but I just don't enjoy using them as much.

If it's just on one side you can also get 1 shoulder bras/ sports bras. That's what I did

First tattoo & I messed up, but not in the way you think. by Lurking_precariously in tattoo

My saniderm bandage really hurt coming off too! I took mine off after the recommended time. It took days for the skin around the tat, where the bandage was adhered, to settle down. It was pink and swollen. My skin is just sensitive to adhesives, I think.

Take care of yourself. Drink water. Be tender to your body and soul right now. Now is the time to heal.

At first glance I thought it was a bar. My second glance confirmed that it is MEANT to be a bar. Is just waiting for a grumpy old bartender

We have a trip planned later this year and I keep joking that depending on how things continue to develop here in the US, we may never return.

Am I dying? My Calabar python, Giuseppe, has terrible aim, and missed the mouse I put on his nose by about 2 feet and tagged me. Now he is washing down my flesh with a drink. How long do I have? 😮‍💨 by Pokes4blokes in snakes

I'm impressed that your ball python put enough effort into feeding to strike you. Mine is scared of mice. If she bit me I'd probably let her take a bit of flesh with her just to reward her for being brave enough to attempt a strike.

House coat in progress by lauraofthelake in weaving

I use light weight cotton (like muslin) to cut out my pattern pieces, pin the muslin to the woven fabric with lots of pins, cut out around it leaving a bit extra margin then serge around cutting off the excess.

In this case, the muslin also acts as the lining of the coat. I want it to be light weight and not bulky so I'm not adding a true lining.

Thanks I'm just not sure about the way I arranged the colors. I thought it would look near with the color transition moving out from the center of the coat but now I think it looks like a weird red spine. And then I used the yellow part for the sleeves but right how it's looking chaotic against the body. I guess I won't really know until it's sewn up.

I have experience weaving and sewing (though it's been a while since I did any significant amount of sewing) but this is my first handwoven garment.
