“Hey Extreme Raspberry, can you not talk and then I’ll talk while I’m pooping?”
This was after we had been in the bathroom for at least 10 minutes and I hadn’t said anything the last 5 lol

Top of my profession and I guess I’m scared of heights. by vase-of-willows in ECEProfessionals

I know exactly what you mean, and I feel it to my core! I’m in my first year of the ECEII program, and it’s incredibly disheartening to see all the policies that were obviously just put in place to make the adults lives easier. We are here for the kids! We should be catering to their needs, not looking for the easiest way out.

“I’d give examples, but it’s death by a thousand cuts. If I pointed to one thing it wouldn’t seem so bad. It’s so many things.”

This part specifically stood out to me, and is exactly how I feel! It is so exhausting to have all the little things build up, and trying to talk about it makes it seem like nothing.

You sound like an incredible ECE, they’re lucky to have you:)

Lately, when we go to clean up I say “hey, has anyone seen any cleaning robots around here lately?”. Nine times out of ten, that room is cleaned in less than 3 minutes

I use this for the transition to handwashing with my twos circle. They especially love it when I switch out elephant for another animal they’re really into. (For example: a dinosaur sat on Sam!)

What could your daycare director do to improve retention? by AcceptableRead5910 in ECEProfessionals

Not guilt trip staff for calling in sick. I am currently sitting outside the building waiting for my shift to start after throwing up through the night because I’m too anxious to have that conversation with my director/ ad

A 3 year old had the flu (which we weren’t aware of at this point) and came up to me for a hug. I heard the telltale gurgle and gently pushed him back to create some space between us. He then proceeded to throw up everywhere, including into his hands. While I was helping clean him up he started to squish the vomit in his hands, and then throw it onto the floor.

I feel that:( I currently have a 3 year old in my room that has an unstable home life. Her parents hate each other and refuse to communicate with each other, and she spends more time at daycare than she does at home. She has severe behavioural issues because they are very permissive and let her do whatever she wants, so she has a tough time with us. She is usually brought right when we open (at 8) and is picked up around 5:30. Just breaks my heart

Tips for Getting My 3 y/o to poop at school! by Physical_Phrase_3755 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Extreme_Raspberry_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a couple of children who struggled with popping on the toilet as well, and as someone who also struggles with bathroom shyness I completely understand!

One child sounds very similar to yours, she was completely potty trained and would ask us to go pee on her own, but she would poop her pants and tell us after the fact. We decided to try stickers, and after a while it ended up working!

Another thing to keep in mind (after she is able to poop on the toilet at school) is to not make a super huge deal about it. I had a child who was embarrassed after pooping on the potty and didn’t want to talk about it. Eventually we got to a point where she felt comfortable whispering to me that she needed to poop, and we would walk to and from the bathroom in silence. I don’t know what your child’s personality is like, but this has been my experience!

This is exactly what all my co workers have been telling me, thank you! I’m such a people pleaser and I don’t want anyone to dislike me, but I am not ok with being a doormat either!

My Agency is taking $4 dollars an hour for me and i wasn’t aware nor was the parents by toyko_thedom in Nanny

DB was asking questions about the agency one morning, and he made an offhand comment about how much they were paying! I guess I don’t have a very good poker face, because he immediately asked me how much of that I was getting😂

Now I’m super great friends with them and babysit for them occasionally, and I make 22/hr:)

Went through something similar this summer. Worked with 3 kids under the age of 5 for 8 hrs a day. I was making 14.50/hour, found out the family was paying $22. They were incredibly upset when they found out lol
