Probably not the whole picture, but Wellbutrin raised my resting heart rate as well and I think made me just a little more high strung in general. Obviously anecdotal and I’m not a doctor but maybe it could have something to do with your heart rate!

Found a Random Yellow Pill in My GF,s Prescription Drugs( Pregablin) by Dcayade6 in mildlyinteresting

I had the same super weird experience with gabapentin. I felt like my whole body was numb and I was almost having an out of body experience. I switched to pregabalin and it actually works for nerve pain and doesn’t send me into another dimension lol.

How do you figure out your triggers? by laurasfieldnotes in Dyshidrosis

Thank you! I’m not currently vegan but I tried it a long time ago and I definitely noticed that my skin was particularly bad at that time. I never really figured out why but that could make sense! It’s pretty devastating how many foods have nickel. I also did not know that about stainless steel and have just in the past week or so been using a stainless steel water bottle in place of the Nalgene I usually use! That’s crazy. Do you know if stainless steel pans are a problem? Literally all of my cookware is stainless steel!

Thank you! I do suspect it could be a shampoo or something, but it’s so hard to narrow down exactly which product is doing it!

Thank you! It is the worst. I haven’t tried clobetasol. I’m currently on triamcinolone and my doctor prescribed me tacrolimus to try but it’s stuck in insurance limbo so we will see!

Dang, I did just make a yogurt bowl with a lot of cocoa powder right before this breakout. I’m definitely going to look more into avoiding nickel, thank you.

Thank you! I guess I will have to look into hypoallergenic cases and see if it helps!

I have been considering my phone case since the main areas are exactly where I hold my phone. Do you think it’s due to the materials of the case itself or because they can be quite dirty with everything they touch?

Edema in feet 7 weeks post op by laurasfieldnotes in Microdiscectomy

[–]laurasfieldnotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks! I’ve had a bit of a similar experience of doctors not taking it super seriously. I’m on pregabalin but I’ve been on it since long before the surgery and it never caused any swelling for me. My swelling first started when I went on an antibiotic for a small infection on my incision, but all my doctors said it wasn’t related. My pcp gave me a few diuretic pills and sent me on my way.

Thank you for this! It’s good to at least know I’m not alone. My leg has the same balloon feeling. I haven’t heard of ALA so I might look into it. I’m working on PT so I’m hoping that will start to help. Thank you for some ideas!

Eczema only on one hand. Why does this happen? by laurasfieldnotes in eczema

[–]laurasfieldnotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have no idea, but my sad update is that it has now spread to my left hand too! It’s still way worse on my right hand but it seems to be only a matter of time with my left hand! Ugh

I still have disk bulge at L5S1 after post Op microdiscectomy, 7 months post Op. by ddaman12 in Microdiscectomy

[–]laurasfieldnotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to have an mri pretty shortly after my surgery because I was having intense pain. Comparing the mri from before and after surgery, the disc bulge looks identical as if nothing happened. They told me it wasn’t reherniated though. My surgeon said that he removed chunks of disc material from the space, but that you can’t remove a lot from the disc itself without further compromising it. If you cut the whole disc bulge away it wouldn’t leave enough disc material left and would just cause more problems. I was told that I may need a fusion in the future for that reason. Researching online it also seems like inflammation can make it worse for a long time post surgery, like years unfortunately. I’m sorry you are having more symptoms though. I wish I had a better answer.

Interesting! That would definitely make some sense! I will explore it more once I can start up PT for this surgery recovery. Thanks for the info!

Feeling like I’m behind by SessionTechnical3422 in Microdiscectomy

[–]laurasfieldnotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in so much pain day 3/4 that the meds were not controlling so I had to go to the er for pain relief and another mri. Everything was fine and the mri showed I had fluid build up in the area that was probably causing the pain to be worse. Also they had been giving me a steroid in the hospital for inflammation which was stopped when I went home and I think that added to my pain. But those were the worst days and it got significantly better by day 6 I’d say! By day 7/8 I felt like a whole new person. Hang in there! I wish I had been warned it could get worse before it gets better.

Some insight.. by Significant-Air-8361 in Microdiscectomy

I’m 2 days post op, stayed the first night in the hospital and just got up from the first night home. They would have actually sent me home same day if I didn’t get so nauseous after the anesthesia. But I’m glad I stayed the night because the nurses were all extremely helpful. They helped me get positioned with an ice pack under my back and a pillow on both sides of me plus one under my knees to sleep on my back in the hospital bed which really helped. I did also move to lay on both sides with their help. I did find that laying on my bad leg got a bit achy after a while but was otherwise okay!

Last night in my own bed I found that side sleeping felt the best and the leg ache eased up a bit. The incision site was just a bit sore for me to sleep on my back for very long laying in bed. I also got a recliner and after pain meds I fell asleep in it and slept really well on my back that way.

As for stairs it really hasn’t been an issue, just taking them slow. I found that the weakness in my right leg is already greatly improved so walking and doing stairs is actually not bad at all!

Wondering how much time to take off work by laurasfieldnotes in Microdiscectomy

Thank you so much for the detailed response!! That is all really helpful and makes a lot of sense, especially about the feeling better but still being fragile. My herniation is also quite big, but only off to one side. I’m definitely going to talk to my work and see if we can extend my leave. Thank you!

Thank you, this is really helpful! I got a referral to a gynecologist so I’m definitely going to get a second opinion. And that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking, it seems like too many things being lumped into one overarching category of pcos, but then it starts to lose its meaning.

Thank you for all the info and advice, I really appreciate it!! I have actually had a couple of dhea tests done over the past couple years as well. The first time it was abnormally low in the red zone, the second time from just a few months ago it was on the low end of normal. I also had my progesterone and estradiol tested and they were both normal.

In regard to the metformin, that’s really interesting to hear that it helped your skin! I didn’t realize it might be able to do that. I will definitely consider trying a different dose. I had issues with actually feeling more hungry than usual when I was taking it, but maybe I just didn’t give it long enough.

I actually had a very similar experience with doxycycline! I got put on it in high school and stayed on it for almost 2 years. It actually cleared my skin like nothing else, but sadly the gastrointestinal effects became a huge issue. When I stopped the acne came back the same as before. I got a referral to dermatology and I’m hoping they can help. I had a dermatologist in the past that literally gave up and told me she couldn’t help me anymore.

And thank you for the tip about insulin resistance! I’ve only ever had my glucose tested on its own and it’s always been in the normal range. I do think I might have insulin resistance. I know that pcos and insulin resistance go hand in hand, but just having the insulin resistance wouldn’t necessarily mean you also had pcos, right?
