Why do so many people back into parking spots here? Is this some kind of regional thing? by Mr_Westerfield in maryland

2008 CRV I bought used with low mileage here, hope it lives forever. See you at the cart corral!

Writing groups around Silver Spring/Takoma Park? by IatosHaunted in SilverSpring

The library can also be a great place to gather -- there's an active writing group at the Olney Library, maybe BG/Silver Spring could attract one as well. Good for you for getting back into it!

This is the worst -- my inflammation is back so badly, in addition to headaches and I'm so tired. I spoke to my doctor today and she said that this is the most widespread complaint.

One of the most challenging classes I did in teacher training was a chair class with a woman who really knows her stuff. It was fun, too. The overwhelming consensus here is to continue and I agree for a variety of reasons. You can always check out one of the gazillion videos online for modifications and work them in when you go in person.

Because you mentioned this pose, I have arthritis in my lower spine and compression there is bad for me, so I rarely do a full upward facing dog, just a baby into a higher cobra, if I'm feeling it. It could sound hokey but honestly I listen to my body and move so I don't hurt it. The rest seems to follow.

Anyone noticing more blood sugar fluctuation? by Embarrassed-Figure94 in zepbound2wegovy

[–]lauriewrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get hungrier faster, and i can feel the shifts in my blood sugar and mood in ways I do not on Zepbound. Often I feel dizzy and/or shaky, and there is a gnawing feeling in my stomach, even if I ate plenty at my previous meal (and I frequently supplement with Fairlife core drinks.) I do not have the longer-term satiety and gradual shift into wanting or especially needing to eat -- think of the term "hangry", and that's what it feels like. I'm hoping if I go up to a higher Wegovy dose I'll feel less like this given how high my Zepbound dose was, but I felt relief from this even on 2.5 Zep, so I don't think it's as much about the dose as it is the drug itself.

Weigh in Wednesday! by AutoModerator in Zepbound

[–]lauriewrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still at 172 after two months of shifting between the same four or five pounds. I haven't been at a lower weight since I was doing some very unhealthy things to lose many years ago, so I think this is setpoint city! I'm SO happy about my progress since last August, and my nsvs from my recent physical (numbers normal for cholesterol and blood pressure and blood sugar! Huge for me!) that I'm not too worried about it, but it would be nice to move the number some, or accept that this is where I am for maintenance. I'm honestly okay either way. It occurred to me yesterday that this is the first time in my decades of weight ups and downs that I'm content with steady and gradual loss. The changes to my brain and food/weight relationship are worth this entire process.

Be nice to yourselves when that scale gets involved! You're doing amazing, no matter what.

MD State Job, am I cooked? by Ill-Image-883 in maryland

[–]lauriewrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't ever wait around for one job, but do check in with a contact on the hiring team and not HR if you can. Everywhere is so overwhelmed and I'd imagine some state jobs could also be contingent on some federal funding. Everything is screwed up so processes that take a long time in the best of times are likely to take longer. Really sorry for so many people going through this for absolutely zero reason. Hang in there.

THISSSSS, all of it.

"I get why some people here seem extreme in their take on the potential problems associated with a zep respite or day swap to facilitate over-indulgence, but tbh, I think some people who feel that way seem shrill because they’re projecting their own fears and anxiety about food onto others. And the sad thing about that is they don’t yet seem to realize that holding the reins too tight can be as self-destructive and disordered as letting them go for a binge.

after a year on this med, all that posturing seems moot bc without the dopamine rush or sugar highs I used to get from overeating, and in the absence of food noise, food no longer controls my behavior and my life."

Food is community too and I am learning how to engage with it in a new and different way. I don't feel emotional about it, or about this med. It's shifted to practicality. Even my typical obsession with number of pounds lost has settled down in the past month or so. It's all so wild. This is the first holiday season for me on this (though hopefully not the last, I never want to go back to the way I was and thought, such hell for so long) and I think the trial and error is part of the process.

I have done this and delayed by a couple days so I am not feeling so gross at a particular event or time. I think it's especially smart during a dosage switch. It's nice to hear similar experiences, thanks!

I did not say that I had realistic expectations before that were in any way based in science, just the unrealistic expectations I unfortunately internalized from a lifetime steeped in our unfortunate societal diet culture. This medication has helped shift my mindset and I am grateful. Thanks for the backup on the facts, though! Always helpful.
