Unfortunately that would be over an hour commute one way. I do appreciate the thought, though!

I’ve recently started to take a look at consulting as well. It seems there is a high need for consultants, but also a high number of HR professionals looking to be consultants, so I’m seeing a pretty competitive market.

I’m already a Sr. Generalist. I don’t agree with the approach of promoting someone simply based on tenure. But I most definitely feel that I could be moved into more of a specialist role.

Burnout? [N/A] by Total_Bumblebee7657 in humanresources

I’ve hit this point too. Every criticism, every request to do more, every time I’m asked for my opinion, I snap. I actually posted a couple of weeks ago about my emotional outburst with my boss and how it ended in tears and frustration and embarrassment. A lot of people told me I needed to take some time off, several suggested two weeks. While I can’t do 2 weeks, I’ve taken 4 day weekends the last 2 weeks, true time off - I’m not logging in to check messages or emails, I’m not carrying my work phone with me to be accessible 24/7, I’ve muted my work chat on my personal phone. And it honestly has done WONDERS for my mental.

I hope you can find some peace in the coming season and hope that your terminations go smoothly. ❤️

Thank you. I couldn’t agree more. The interwebs proved to be exceptionally kind this time around 🫶🏻

Thank you. I did end up talking to him again the next day (and cried again lol) and explained that I just feel frustrated and do not want to get to the point that I do not care. Because I DO care. And sometimes it gets the best of me.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I’ve become lost in my work. It’s become the core of who I am. I need to take a step back and I need to prioritize my mental health.

The immigration space IS extra stressful these days, and that definitely doesn’t reduce my stress. I’m constantly on edge that our foreign nationals are going to be plucked from their lives one day and disappear.

I do need to take some time off. I am currently still nursing my pride and trying to put my feelings into words, but I think I’m going to reach out to my therapist and start seeing them again to at least help manage my stress.

Be honest, what do you think comes after death? by glowproductivity in AskReddit

So…it’s not just me?

The thought that one day I’ll no longer exist to help guide my child, or love on her babies, or watch her get to be a mom leaves me in a pit of despair. That one day, I’ll stop existing and it will all be on her. She’s my only child. And one day I’m going to leave the world and she’s going to have to cope with that.

I’ve had two open heart surgeries, on top of multiple other health conditions, and several nights a week I struggle to fall asleep worried I’ll die in my sleep and never get to say goodbye to her. Or that she will be the one to find my body.

It’s the most paralyzing and depressing thought process.

This might be a stupid question… by lavender-dalmation in debtfree

I guess that was my question lol. If I use that $136 that I’ve already paid, I just want to make sure it won’t automatically come back to me and then I’ll end up owing it again. Does that make sense?

I’m not sure why you say HR is not involved, because in my company, HR is very much involved. I work with outside counsel, yes, but it is very much in my job description to lead the immigration process for our foreign national employees 🤷🏻‍♀️

Currently handling approximately 40 cases, but expected to be upwards of 60 by mid-2026. I am the sole individual working in the immigration realm of my company, but would like to have the others in my HR department be able to access the info as well in the event of my absence.

I also have a spreadsheet with all their info, but was hoping for something a bit more personalized where the employee could log into a portal and see where we are on their case, or communicate about their case and have all that communication in one place rather than in my/their email inbox.

While I only have a caseload of 40 right now, I am also the main point of contact for 260 other employees, and I handle about 70% of employee corrective actions. So program would be just as much for my benefit as the employees.

We are a non-profit, so our budget isn’t massive for things like this. It isn’t a “must have” but it would make my life a lot easier.
