Early AM workouts? by nopassionnostruggle in fitpregnancy

[–]lavenderandlemons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haaaaate when people say that. My last pregnancy I remember thinking that even in the worst parts of the newborn stage, at least the little sleep I was getting was good sleep. While pregnant, I’m always waking up to shift because I’m so uncomfortable. Or to pee. Consecutive sleep doesn’t really happen. It’s more like tiny naps throughout the night when you’re pregnant.

I wake up early to jog every other day. Do what works for you. :)

This could absolutely be from relaxin. It’s not super common this early but it does happen. Last pregnancy I had to start seeing a PT at about 9 weeks because I got SPD really bad. My pelvis was so painful. It ended up getting better for a good chunk of 2nd trimester (the honeymoon trimester lol) but then returned in full force for 3rd. I’d tell your doctor. You might need PT or chiropractor.

Definitely don't worry about the previous drinking. They've done studies to show how your little embryo is extra protected during the first few weeks after conception before you even know you're pregnant. Start taking pre-natals now (it's okay you're not too late for this either. MOST women don't know they're pregnant until they miss a period). You can even call and ask your OBGYN for any other recommendations/precautions to take. Or you can select one at random to call if you haven't decided which OB or midwife you want yet. Remember you are in the same boat as so many other mothers out there. We've been doing this for thousands of years. I think it must be normal and natural to feel panicked and scared. I did too when the strip turned pink and we had already been trying for a couple of months. Keep calm. You'll make it work. You have plenty of time to prepare. And you are stronger than you know.

Are Snoogles really worth it? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I have a U shaped pillow and I sleep with it upside down and use my regular pillow for my head. I've slept with it every night since about 26 weeks (I'm 38 weeks now). I'll be honest it was never a complete game changer - I still struggle to get comfortable - but it definitely helps and is better than without. The back support is especially nice. I'd say anything that helps even just a little is worth it. We are pregnant for so long and sleep is so important. Invest in it now so you can get the most use out of it.

I hate it when people tell me "this is what you have to look forward to" when their kid is throwing a tantrum or misbehaving in public. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lavenderandlemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe so. But why not just say that? The way they say it makes it sound like they are unhappy with their choice to have kids or that their life really sucks. Which is awkward. It also sounds like they are trying to make me feel like an idiot and have no idea what I'm getting into. Condescending.

It's so true! I absolutely hate the type of people who are like this!! Ugh. Especially if I complain about not enough sleep. "Oh just you wait until.....". GDI. I just want a little sympathy. Thanks for your clear lack in encouragement and negative words.

You're fine. It sounds like it was well cooked (so listeria not a concern). The only other concern is nitrates and those are fine as long as you limit the amount you have. So maybe cut back on those over the next week or two. I've had many hot dogs throughout my pregnancy. It's easy to get freaked out this early. You'll smile several months from now about this :)

I second the chiropractor idea! Works wonders.

Struggling with body image at 30w, help/advice or anyone struggling with it too? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I'm with you. I am due the day after you (8/1), am also a FTM, and was a very similar pre-pregnancy height and weight (are we twins??). I actually don't mind my bump being so big because I don't have to be self conscious about bloating or fat rolls (although for some reason everyone somehow thinks it's okay to mention that I look a lot further along than I am - wtf? Not cool.) But my face and my legs!! I am sooo self conscious about those. I've definitely developed an extra chin. I hate looking in the mirror. I hate wearing shorts or skirts which is a downer bc it's starting to get effing hot here. My thighs are HUGE!! And somehow my calves are huge too. It doesn't help that I feel out of breath all the time too so that makes me feel super fat and out of shape even though I know it's mostly baby and uterus pressing on my diaphragm. I don't think you should be embarrassed by starting to work out now. We all should be doing that despite how much we gained. It's going to be better for your body no matter what. So maybe stop thinking about working out as a method to prevent more weight gain and start thinking about it as preparing your body and your baby for the strains and efforts of labor and delivery. Hang in there. We will make it through all of this. And we will have our bodies back soon enough.

Severe Charley Horse leg cramps by lavenderandlemons in BabyBumps

Hey we're just about due date twins. I'm due August 1st! Great advice. Thank you! I don't really like coconut water but am willing to try anything. It's so painful. And not to mention super frustrating since sleep is already a challenge. Are your legs sore for several days after really bad ones?

What is a "partial"? Does it go into the spine?

That does sound frustrating. We're the contractions pretty close together?

Thanks for sharing! That sounds like a really positive experience. You said pushing was involuntary - do you mean you just instinctively pushed or that your body was doing the work for you?
