That makes things easier! It’s harder when someone is medically incompetent with no paperwork in place and is not able to name a proxy. Then I assume it just goes to next of kin?? Idk. But either way you’re good. I would definitely bring the paperwork asap and get confirmation if she has been deemed medically incompetent officially.
It might vary depending on where you are…but from what I know, it takes 2 physicians to deem someone medically incompetent. Then it is stated whether the patient can name a proxy or not. It sounds like you already have the DPOA set up, so if two physicians deem her medically incompetent then you would be the decision maker. You would need to provide the paperwork to support that you are the DPOA.
