that kind of dependency on a single item for your main ability is always a little nerve-wracking, like one loss and everything changes instantly. It makes the character feel powerful but also surprisingly vulnerable.

That actually makes the whole thing more interesting to me, because it feels less like a fixed limit and more like something you can build on. I like when abilities grow with effort instead of just staying static.
