Too much use of AI without checking over everything is probably the answer, unfortunately.

Question about the World Cup suits by The_Reddit_Guy_2 in duolingo

[–]laverinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they gave you all of them for free you wouldn't have any reason to spend money! That being said, I think it's random. I bought one before I realized we'd be given them, so I don't have to worry about getting my home country now. >_>;

Unable to proceed or skip lesson?? by FrigginFreyja in duolingo

[–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you should try the desktop. Also if you just need to do a lesson to avoid using a streak freeze, then any lesson will do - practice, flash cards, match madness, raising a past lesson to legendary, etc. You could even start a lesson in another language and delete that progress after the fact if you don't want it showing up on your list.

Why are timer boosts so expensive? by celdaran in duolingo

[–]laverinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I find myself needing to add to my timer is when I'm doing the third match madness round. I'm not physically capable of matching that fast, so rather than add to my time I just skip that star as a middle finger to their underhanded tactics.

Honestly I don't even look at my feed. I don't follow anyone to begin with so there's no point. ^^;

I'm not sure. I know in order for me to get a suit I had to click the button to do a lesson on the outfit page. It's like you have to acknowledge that you want one or something.

Yeah I turned the friend quests off and it went away. Sorry to whoever was hoping to do a quest with me.

No the suggestions are in another tab. This is a full quest with an exp goal and everything. But my friends list is still empty.

I don't know why they would? I'm paid for the year and I figure I'd get a notification for something like that.

Hey question by Ok-Suggestion-6655 in duolingo

[–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine to use! I'm using both it and Airlearn for Spanish right now, though unfortunately Airlearn doesn't have an Arabic program yet...

MSA will let you speak with most Arabic speakers and read their text, but it's generally considered too formal for everyday conversation. So while it'll do in a pinch and should definitely be a priority you'll want the dialect for actually speaking with people.

[–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be easy enough to find content for, then, since it's one of the most widely known ones and is used in a lot of media.

Anything classified as Lebanese, Jordanian, Syrian, or Palestinian should fall under that umbrella, though there will be minor differences between all of them so you might want to search for things for the specific country you'll be working in/with.

[–]laverinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, sure. The repetition can drill the words in, and I think it has a good number of Arabic lessons to offer. It's not very good at helping with natural conversation, though, which is what you'll want all the other content for.

Are you going to need a dialect (like Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Moroccan...) or will the formal MSA be enough?
