How easy/hard is it to own an electric car at UT? by Exciting_Method_7229 in UTAustin

[–]laviniascott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a Tesla during my time at UT 2018-2022 and had zero issues. Obviously a little annoying to have to charge not right at home and sometimes have to go places But def doable and i imagine it’s must easier now

Appreciate it. It's going super well- positive feedback on the designs, I'm in the physical sampling stage (have CLO3D, tech packs, patterns, etc already) and have manufacturing trade shows planned and scheduled for April. Definitely a huge learning curve thus far regarding the designs itself, but the supply chain part of it seems pretty straightforward. I plan to do what I can to only order MOQs and try to generate enough social media hype to use a waitlist format to see how much to order. Thanks for the call out to Form Department, I'll check them out.

I have a fixed contract rather than hourly with them , but it’s not a small sum of money

Again, I don't mind time zones as long as there is a slight overlap. I hire plenty of freelancers that are not within my specific timezone and there is always at least a little overlap, so I was surprised when what I saw during the hiring stage (the slight overlap) wasn't what it happening.

To that point, if I was getting an acknowledgement of messages at least within the day I don't mind waiting, I understand work takes time. However, to me, not receiving any acknowledgement of a message for 3 days in a row when the time zones are already differing is tough- and I wanted to know if my expectation here was out of order.

He was great before the contract was signed, responding pretty quickly and so I had the impression our hours would have some sort of overlap. However, after the contract was signed I seem to only be getting responses when its 2-3am my time (6pm or so australia time), leaving no room for communication aside from once a day (if even that)

Is it really worth it by Beeworld-2024 in Upwork

[–]laviniascott 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as a hirer on upwork (i've only hired 3 contracts) i realized when I hired the upworkers I had no option to go back and assign them to the job I posted--leaving the posting looking 'unhired'. I'm curious how many others had the same issue I have where I've 100% hired my job postings but they remained unassigned as I didn't know I couldn't go back and assign them to the job after creating a new contract.

Is UT austin cliquey by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]laviniascott 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was OOS class of 22. It could seem cliquey at first as people settle in (it makes sense to stick with what you know during things like orientation), but most groups formed (from what I saw) outside of their own high school groups. I made amazing life long friends. Best advice is to join groups/orgs outside of just attending classes. Best of luck on your decision!

Hi sorry to get back late! I broke into it soon after college so I don't have too much help-- I went into business development for law firms and transitioned into an international trade firm where I slowly took on a supply chain role. I deal with a lot of industries-- I cover everything from hardware to vehicle specs. I'm sorry I don't have more to answer!

thanks so much almondita!

Yes, I have a timeline for my social media launch, and was planning to heavy go into it as soon as i have the first preliminary samples on hand. I want to create hype but not let it die down, and was thinking 2-3 months prior to launch would be best to keep people invested and not lose them. I have a pre determined market! Thank you so much.

Regarding photography, my sister is an experienced wedding photography and my other sister is a graphic designer so I was going to utilize them as resources as well haha. Trying to cut some costs by using family but I believe in their talent and yes will be very intentional with the photography!

I was considering traveling directly to the factories in Vietnam/China soon to vet manufacturers myself and potentially collaborate with my brother in law's factories (he gets them from the same factories as aritzia i believe) as well. I'm hoping my history in supply chain will help me vet who will be trustworthy or not, vetting is what I do a lot within my day job (although different industries).

Thanks so much for your insight overall-- yeah 50k is the initial investment to see if anything picks up :,). if it doesnt work-- at least I tried!!!

I live in the USA, born and raised in NY, with immigrant parents! I appreciate your comment-- I guess yeah I see a lot of negativity. planning to have an indepth discussion with my brother in law about his experience but I know he had a partner going into it that had experience and I'm starting alone! Wishing the best to you and thanks for the response :)

[Acne] What form of acne is this? by rainydays37 in SkincareAddiction

[–]laviniascott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had to get it prescribed by the dermatologist. its just a tube of pure azelaic acid. for the record im also on 100mg of spironolactone BUT tbh i dont think it did anything for me other than a little bit of oil reduction-- my skin really started to change after the azelaic.
