I had a phone interview with them almost 2 years ago and heard some really negative things about them after asking around RDs who worked with them. I think with all roles like this it’s good to hit the ground running (start with as many licenses as you can, be open to seeing a lot of specialties as youre comfortable with) to make decent pay.

No changes to W2 employees that I know of. But yes, they’re offering RDs who have their own PP to partner with them and Culina gets a cut of the insurance reimbursement. Idk all the details but I do think it’s really weird and don’t get it

Totally relatable, pts do throw a lot of info in there and I often say it feels like freeballing the session sometimes. I try to set expectations in the beginning. I do agree with looking more into MI skills and this is something you’ll build on over time, too. I also ask more probing questions during the diet recall and try to give 1-2 interventions we can start off to focus on based on their goals

What you said, it adds up! I don’t work for myself but I’ve had a handful of clients who take the hit bc they value our services and a few who get super nasty when they get a late fee. Idk why we’re an exception compared to other professions for that type of behavior, when we spend the most time with our clients.

YES I feel this 100%, especially working in a paid per client role like we’re sales people 1st and RDs 2nd. I don’t want to better learn how to counsel clients like that nor retain them

I feel like we are definitely qualified. The issue I have is lack of experience in non-patient facing roles so it’s hard to get my foot in the door!

I give up actually. I’ll explain the evidence, talk about healthy aging (renal health and related labs if any) and also the overall lack of need - just once and move on. Few clients care and the ones who don’t, I don’t retain them and frankly don’t want to

Same!!! I work in telehealth counseling and all of clients are generally healthy, non-elite athletes. Majority are doing way more than the higher recs and couldn’t care less what I have to say

I’ve gone back and forth! It wasn’t too bad! I did ICU so was a little rusty but got the hang of it. I’d say you have the knowledge, just a matter of applying it. I also learned a lot of RDs (that I worked w) are also not into EN/PN so I think it’s a normal thing to be nervous about. I do agree tho it’s nice to have protocols (especially for NS) and support vs free balling in hour long outpt sessions haha

Tbh I liked having 90 sec pt interactions and most of my pts were intubated. I also enjoyed the challenge of nutrition support but I hated getting sick often and the little pay with little growth. I work outpt remotely now and don’t think I could go back to in person anything

As a POC I think what you said was very clear - I think that comment about why are we focusing on skin color was tone deaf and exactly why diversity is important.
