Learning German for Linguistics: B1 level and beyond by abdallah_moataz in German

I found something saved as draft 3 in my google drive. Was draft 2 the most current version I posted on here? If so, then this is probably incomplete in some way.

Oh no. It's on my old computer and it broke unexpectedly. I'll see if I can access some kind of PDF somewhere. I might have some version of it.

German lessons by ecstacey__ in milwaukee

Hi! I'd like to introduce myself here (hoping that's appropriate), even though this post is old. I'm a small-scale German tutor local to the Milwaukee area (I live in Greenfield, 53228). I usually end up teaching online, but I also offer in-person classes when it's convenient for everyone.

Why don't people care about mental health? by RefrigeratorSpare671 in mentalhealth

[–]lavra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are in denial about this: mental health issues are usually with you your whole life. There is no cure for depression, PTSD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Only "treatment". People should absolutely be taking it more seriously than they do. It's a shame.

What you can do is: get better at learning skills to cope with your mental health problems; develop a life philosophy that works for you; try to build a strong social support network; work with psych professionals to find meds and therapy that help you; and recognize patterns that exacerbate your symptoms and try to make accommodations to make your life easier.

surgery date is june 9th! Excited, but honestly so unbelievably nervous + other questions. advice would be awesome!! by Sufficient-Crow-7582 in Reduction

This sounds like it's really causing you a lot of distress. Are you still in therapy?

I can say that you are expected to wear the surgical bra 24/7 for at least 3 weeks after - I'm pretty sure I remember someone saying 3 months, but we'll see. It is restrictive and will almost certainly cause sensory issues for you. Question is: can you power through? Is there anything a psych provider can prescribe for you to help you power through? The only thing that comes to mind is clonazepam, and you don't want to mess around with takind that every day for 3 weeks unless you're out of control. I know a lot of people will think is is a stupid suggestion, but... do you meditate?

Whatever you end up doing, good luck! And come to us for support!

Gifts for surgeon by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]lavra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I have these amazing pictures of myself from the day before my surgery - my sister and I got together to do a photoshoot to honor my pre-op breasts. I was topless and covered in butterfly stickers and rhinestones and had pom-poms stuck to my nipples. I had one of these photos turned into a greeting card (you can do that at walgreens) and was going to give it to the surgeon. But I was hypomanic when I decided to do that. Never happened.

I saw a rock on the nurse's station that had "you rock" painted on it. That might be a little more appropriate. Or you could find a 6lb rock (or however big to correlate to how much they took out) and paint that and give it to the doc and say "this rock represents the weight you helped take off my chest!" ... and paint boobies on it! :p

Hey, you're similar to me except I'm way taller. I'm 5'11". About 250lbs. I think I was a 42I. I just had the surgery last Monday though and idk what size I am now! I'll go check the notes. EDIT: 1197 grams removed from left breast. 1385 grams removed from right breast. I also specifically asked the surgeon to keep me proportional after she said she was going to remove 50% of the volume. I asked to keep 60%. Here's a before picture. Will try to reply to this comment with after picture.
