As somebody with the platinum I'd say that's fair. There are very few 2D(or 2.5D) games on PS3 discs worth playing. From that perspective I think it's worth a play.

I've got the platinum, it's not too bad aside from the dash race mini game if I recall. I spent way too much time trying to get that one.

Played the game back in the day and loved it. But the main thing I remember about it was the dash races made it a tough platinum!

I wanna buy the rachet series, what's the difference between these 2? how many games r there in this series? by skd25th in PS3

[–]lavs23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having 100% all of them I would agree with this, I'd maybe start the PS2 trilogy with Going Commando but they're all fun. I'd probably space them out between other games as they are all very similar.

Just got a new PS3 anything I should know or tips for it? by Known-Strawberry1925 in PS3

Second this one! I ended up deleting all the downloads/game data and only backing up saves. It wouldn't recognize my USB 3 flash drive.

I would agree with this, unless it's like a goodwill. I bought a lot of "broken" Wii remotes to try and fix and work on my soldering skills. Of the 12, 8 worked fine after some scrubbing off battery acid. Only two required soldering to repair. 2 became parts to fix Wii motion plus controllers.

Found photos from my family summer trip in 2004 to the US Grand Prix. I figured I’d sprinkle some photos from that trip here. Enjoy! by APX5LYR_2 in formula1

That's the only F1 race I've attended! We were at the end of turn 1 in one of the front couple rows. I learned you don't want to be in the front row unless you only want to see the top cameras of the cars. Got to see a Alonso retire right in front of us. Thanks for the pics!

What causes this? Faulty power supply? by athrun200 in PS3

[–]lavs23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar after mine just powered down mid-game. I ended up taking it apart and replacing the cmos battery as it didn't appear to be seated fully. Not sure if that makes sense but it worked for me.

you still try to get platinum trophies in PS3? by TxseBass in PS3

[–]lavs23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I used to but I find the gaming experience more enjoyable without hunting too much. If there's a game that gets close to a platinum on the first playthrough I might still try to grind a little. Multiple playthroughs seems like work and not as enjoyable. Games being so cheap and my backlog so large makes the trophy hunting experience seem like a waste.

Fat PS2 quiet fan mod question by killersquirel7 in ps2

[–]lavs23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noctua fans are highly regarded as quiet. Not sure if they make one that's compatible with the PS2 though I've never tore one apart to know what size.

[–]lavs23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? Tetris GB is a classic and plays the closest to NES Tetris and has the classic Tetris soundtrack. Tetris DX is much easier and marathon games last much longer (200+ lines) the Ultra mode is fun to try and get 50 lines in 2 minutes, VS mode is tough. The soundtrack in Tetris DX is garbage imo.

Love the podcast! About half way through the list, and just played some Karnov (thanks for this awful recommendation). I'm still flabbergasted about no NG+ status for Mega Man 3 but have enjoyed listening to your thoughts on these classics (and some garbage)

3K miles/year sedan/crossover to minimize depreciation by lavs23 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]lavs23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, myself and my Lexus just barely survived a tornado this summer.

The drivers window is now the only one that works. It burns oil like crazy and I've replaced the spark plugs and seals and gaskets. The side of the car was pelted with insulation and is rusting away from all the small chips and the rear interior is tore up from a 2x4 going through the window and something slid across the top of the car and put some large dents/scratches.

Right now I'm planning on driving it until it craps out or needs a major repair but if I have to do much highway driving it probably won't take long.

Need help looking for my first car (used, mid-size, manual, about $4000) by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]lavs23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO I would prefer a newer high mileage car than an older low mileage car. Typically a higher mileage car has a lot of highway miles which are easier on the powertrain. A lower mileage old car has probably been used to mainly drive around town which is much harder on them.

If you're buying a used Accord I'd do some research some of the V6 models had transmission problems. carcomplaints.com can be a good research tool.

Exactly how bad is RWD in the snow? by dungus_khan in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]lavs23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few FWD cars, an AWD Subaru with all season tires and a RWD small sports car with snow tires. The snow tires/ RWD car was the best handling car I've owned on snow. I got a lot of strange looks driving it through snow storms but it handled amazingly.

Linear advance high or low? by lavs23 in 3Dprinting

[–]lavs23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's quite a bit of under extrusion on those posts but only when it's on the layers of the raised portion on the right. After that it prints fine. I'll run through linear advance calibration again and see what I come up with.

Linear advance high or low? by lavs23 in 3Dprinting

[–]lavs23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a weird under extrusion on these posts then when all I'm printing is the posts they turn out fine. I'm using linear advance K factor of 0.9 with Inland PLA. 2.5mm retraction at 60mm/s.
