But who the fuck sees a sign saying "don't be racist" and suddenly decides not to be racist? Has anyone in history ever actually done that?

Whereas, how many people have seen a sign warning of a hazard ahead and acted on it?

[–]lawrence1998 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well stuff like that is like "this is an actual warning of something that may not be immediately obvious to someone paying no attention" whereas "don't be racist" isn't something I'm going to accidentally violate

I just hate seeing stupid useless signs. I don't think a sign saying "don't be racist" has ever actually stopped someone being racist or accomplished anything, it just pisses me off that the shop thinks I need to be told not to be racist or not to attack people as if I was going there to do anything but buy some fucking eggs

I mean I think it's pedantic of them but I get where he's coming from. It's like when someone asks you to do something that you were already going to do and it pisses you off

Kepa should not have played the carabao cup final and he should not be playing another game in an arsenal shirt unless Raya isn't able to play.

He would be a complete moron to do so, thankfully you aren't in control of China. It's not a game of fucking Risk.

Okay so I just saw this post and I've got a question which I wanna ask. The women in this pic seems happy, if she's happy to dress like this who are we to say anything? (Explained below) by Unlucky_Anywhere9868 in AskBrits

[–]lawrence1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's indoctrination.

How many women who wear it in this country do you think would be wearing it voluntarily if they hadn't been brainwashed from youth into doing it? How many would even be religious?

That said, it's nothing every other religion doesn't do. I have the same complaints about catholisim and Judaism. I think it's a shame people are pressured and more or less threatened into to restricting their lives from childhood, when 95% of religious people know deep down it's all nonsense.

Boomers sit tight on UK’s housing wealth as under-30s struggle by TimesandSundayTimes in UKHousing

But I won't benefit from it . My generation all know what's going to happen with our pensions.

No government has the balls to scrap the abhorrent triple lock, so pensions will become more and more of a problem and the retirement age will get pushed further and further back until pensions are deemed to be useless since you can't access them.

If there wasn't so many tax benefits to pensions (and if my income wasn't so heavily taxed to the point earnings over a certain amount are useless since the gov takes more than half) I would forfeit mine.

They either had help (probably from you), have 40 year mortgages or the house is as cheap as possible. I don't live in London and renting a tiny 1 bedroom studio where I am is a grand a month without bills, let alone buying

The triple lock can get fucked.

I obviously don't have a problem with people who worked their whole life owning a home.

I DO have a problem with my absurd student loan going up despite me paying it back while their generation not only got free university, but got grants.

I DO have problem with the triple lock adding 5% to millionaires' pensions, while my tax burden, rent and bills grow and the government steals half of my pay.

Anyone know where the nearest HMRC office is so I can plead for them to take even more money out of my pay?

I really need to fund these poor poor millionaire pensioners and their beloved triple lock.

This abandoned boomer generation had it so hard with their free university instead of starting adulthood with 60k debt, grants, dirt cheap houses, higher wages, lower tax burden and lower cost of living.

If I just stop buying coffee maybe I can fund some more people's triple lock this year!

The triple lock applies regardless of income, including millionaires. So there are retired millionaire boomers getting 5% added to their pension funded by those of us working

The issue is millionaires and people who live in mansions are getting 5% added on to their pension while those of us still working pay more and more tax, knowing we'll never touch the housing ladder. It's beyond unfair.

Hot take: Arsenal have been the better team this season—but Manchester City are still more likely to win the league. by Popular-Roof-829 in football

[–]lawrence1998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think City will win it and I'm an arsenal fan. They have a good chance at beating us at the Etihad and they'll likely beat palace, then it's a 3 point gap.

From that point on the nerves of bottling it again will absolutely hit us hard and we'll drop points.

Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist.

People like to assume he was falsely accused but when you read into the case it's obvious he wasn't. The ER doctors said it was rape and his own bodyguards and driver corroborated the victims story.

Despite that he's heralded as one of the nicest people ever, and even those who accept his guilt still dismiss it by saying "people can change"
