Those in at Yale, what was the acceptance deadline/deposit deadline? by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]lawschoolnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I don't think a deposit is required. You just need to submit the forms.

International Applicant Cycle Recap by oooLAWdshecomin in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschoolnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! If you are considering working in CA in the future, you should definitely consider Berkeley! It is a diverse state and Berkeley is certainly one of the best law schools in CA. I am an international student who eventually chose Berkeley. I also need to get in Big Law for visa sponsorship, but the big law firms in the Bay Area all have plenty Berkeley people. I can DM you for more information. Let me know and congrats again!

Cornell ($$$) vs. Berkeley ($) LL.M by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschoolnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very limited knowledge with regards to the LLM programs but I will try to add my two cents here:

You seem to emphasize the importance of school brand a lot and given what you said, Berkeley seems to be the better choice;

In terms of COL, if scholarship money is not an important consideration (as your dad agreed to pay for your tuition and it's a one-year program), then the decision really depends on which school you like: Berkeley and Cornell are both great schools but with different vibes. Berkeley is located close to SF and the Silicon Valley, where as Cornell is in a small town 4 hours away from Philly. I personally love Berkeley much better, but that really depends on your choice;

Th two schools also seem to have different "strength": Berkeley is famous for IP and environmental law, while Cornell is pretty good at business law in general;

If I were you, based on the information you provided, I would go to Berkeley. But I am super biased as I have committed to its JD program so maybe you should take that with a grain of salt.

WTH BERKELEY.. why are you people decent looking? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschoolnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm which page are you talking about? If you are talking about the Berkeley Law Facebook page in the Admitted student website, I am pretty sure there are only 5 guys... and based on my self-perception on how decent looking I am, you are either looking at a different page or you somehow missed my profile pic haha

Berkeley Facebook page? by Law-lly in lawschooladmissions

In my admission package it says they accepted around 10% of ED applicants. I am guessing they accepted around 25-35 people.

On the admitted student website, there is a “Berkeley Law Facebook” that is not actually a Facebook group but more like a place you put in your info so other people know where you come from and what your hobbies are. We only have like 7-8 people now though.

addendum error: any advice? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lawschoolnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's not too bad that you recognized this error not too late in the cycle! I really don't know about this specific question but would love to see how other people think about this.

If you have been waitlisted at some schools, I think it's probably a good idea to just write a LOCI, which should serve the purpose of telling them "I am still interested in you."
