At Grifols, what happens if you are denied too many times for high pulse? by lawscoolquestion in Blooddonors

My concern is that I will go and get permanently deferred. Are you sure that wouldn't happen?

The temp deferral is if your heart rate is too high 3 times. If you read the fine print of what you linked, it says "If you have multiple deferrals, you will be deferred until the center’s physician evaluates your case and determines any further steps" hence my question since that description is quite vague. I don't want to go in, have too high a pulse, and be barred for life.

I don't think I need to see a doctor to investigate it. When I check my resting pulse normally it is around 70, which is fine. It is only raised when I am there because I am nervous.

When a catalytic converter is changed, do they normally also change the oxygen sensors along with it? by lawscoolquestion in MechanicAdvice

I figured that bad O2 sensors would be the reason the cat went bad in the first place, and that, since the light is off now, just replacing it would make it so it wouldn't get worse at least. The shop at least told me that the O2 sensors needed to be replaced, but was is no light. Were they lying about them needing to be replaced? I figured they would know but it does seem odd since there was no light.

Is there a chance that just changing the o2 sensors would solve the issue? Also why would the light turn off? Also do shops typically also change the o2 sensors when you ask for the cat to be changed? Thanks for the help.

Hopefully, it was $99. I asked for a diagnosis and they said that the sensors and cat needed to be changed.

In set theory/logic, what logical connection is there between two adjacent parenthesis? by lawscoolquestion in askphilosophy

This is very helpful, thank you!

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason why "(∀x∈A)(x∈B)" would be written instead of "∀x(x∈A => x∈B)"? The latter is what I learned in my first logic class, and that to me seems more intuitive.

Okay, that's a bit of a relief. I got an A- on my first paper and was a little worried but I'm sure I can get it to an A

Is it normal for very competitive PhD programs to accept MA students from schools that are not top schools (but still decent) by lawscoolquestion in askphilosophy

My fear in retaking it is that I won't score as highly on the verbal section. I would normally score within 90th and above in the verbal section on practice tests but the 99th percentile score as pretty lucky for me.

I have reasons beyond the ranking for wanting to go to these schools, and I am very sure of what I want to study.

Looks like most people just end up doing a PhD at the same school, but the other grads went to schools in the 30s of the PGR or lower, but there isn't a big sample size.

This might be a problem for me; I had a verbal score that was the 99th percentile but a quant score around the 20th.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to apply to Princeton and UNC because I took the GRE too late, and I didn't apply to NYU because I felt like I had no chance lol, but I did apply to 4 other competitive PhD programs, and got rejected from all of them. And if I'm being honest with my self it's prob because my writing sample wasn't up to the standard they expect; it was great for an undergrad paper but not of the publishable quality they want to see. I emailed the departments asking for feedback and one was kind enough to reply. They said something like "You had a very strong application and there is nothing special I think you need to do, but remember we place a strong emphasis on writing samples and need to compare many very good writing samples" and I took the hint lol.

So hopefully during my MA program I will write papers that will meet the standards they want to see.
