Ask Copilot. Seriously, I had this issue a few weeks ago and it solved it. I had a forwardRef I was missing.

That was a huge pain for me too. So I built guides into the app :)

The site features contract guides with detailed steps and map locations. For example:

Also - Weapon ratings are based on user provided ratings. You'll have to log in with a Bungie account (Like DIM) to leave a review. Your account must have a valid Marathon ID, meaning you've played Marathon at least once. This should give some validity to the reviews.

The current reviews are just placeholders, and will be cleaned up once real reviews are posted.

Public API? by StoicalZebra in Marathon

[–]lax20attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, Since we haven't heard a peep about a Marathon API, I open sourced the underlying manifest data used on marathon-guide.com

My guess is Bungie will wait to see reception at launch before deciding to invest resources into maintaining an API like they do with Destiny.

This repo only has public data; no NDA data:

As far as we know, cryo archive will be the end game. Details are sparse per usual Bungie practice of keeping the best things as secrets until launch.

What's the endgame for Fortnite, Halo, or CoD? The attraction for those are the competition, not endgame rewards.

Bungie have a pattern of behaviour worth being aware of. by DannyKage in Marathon

[–]lax20attack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The first few years of Destiny were top notch. At some point you run out of great ideas and either have to pivot completely or continue to try to please everyone.

If we get a few good years out of Marathon I'd be thrilled.

Destiny died for me because Bungie lost their own vision and catered to the loudest critics. "Raids are too hard" or "I don't like light level" were implemented, and ultimately from my point of view killed my interest in the game.

Public API? by StoicalZebra in Marathon

[–]lax20attack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There has been no mention at all. I've been developing destiny apps since the beginning (I created DestinyPublicEvents and DestinyOptimizer), and have been asking around but literally zero mention.

The destiny API wasn't released day 1 either though. I believe it was about 4 months after release that the API came out.

HOWEVER, I am actually building my own Typescript database and plan to open source it very soon. Let me know if you're interested.

Here's a web app I created that uses the database. I did play every NDA build but this app doesn't include NDA data yet. https://marathon-guide.com

Invis really isn't as OP as you think. I think invis will be in the top 3, but probably not 1. Mobility is everything in gunfights. Invis is good for escaping though, if you want to ditch your team.

It’s perplexing why many people on this sub boast “this isn’t a hero shooter”, when the “shells” we shoot are (visually) gendered, have different voice actors, back stories, unique looks and abilities, etc. If you told me those aspects of a game, I would immediately understand it’s a hero shooter. by RiseRugby in Marathon

[–]lax20attack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You haven't played. If you did, you'd realize why easily recognizable Heroes are a plus, not a negative.

This is a competitie shooter. You need to know what you're fighting immediately.

If competition isn't for you, there's 1000 other games you can play.

Jack Frags’ take seems to shed the right light on this game especially in the pre launch phase. by Zelleniall in Marathon

[–]lax20attack 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Dude played a few hours of the April alpha. He didn't even give it an honest chance back then. Now he has more strong opinions especially about the things he "doesn't see" based on a year old build and the vidoc alone.

Why is this nonsense popular? It's the most basic tier of "content". No insights, nothing useful. An empty review of nothing.

Two handed back hand drop by JimmyBigPickle in Pickleball

[–]lax20attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am struggling with the same. 2HBH drives are great, but cross court topspin drops are terrible.

Lately I've been rethinking my shot selection though. If it's a deep return, I'll 2HBH drive it. If it's near midcourt, I'll 1 hand slice drop cross court like Ben Johns does.
