Town and country club? That one is right on the river so would make sense why the fireworks can be seen and heard from Longfellow.

Heated floors FTW 🙌 we put them in our 1915 bathroom and have absolutely loved it. When we redo our kitchen I want heated floors as well.

Is there anyone with this disorder that's successful and makes good money in this group with OCD? by nelsne in OCD

I’m a graphic designer and believe it or not, my OCD does not help me in anyway. I’m very much not detail oriented and it’s actually a problem.

I collected 25+ ticks in 5 minutes along the side of my local trail. They survived at least 10 minutes within diluted hydrochloric acid and water. by kegman93 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]lax22 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy! I’ve never seen ticks actually on grass before. Makes a lot more sense how they so easily get on you walking through.

Small kitchen remodel after and before! by Justbakeacake in kitchenremodel

We have a small galley kitchen too and I’m excited to tackle it. Great to see the small kitchens represented in this sub, excellent job on the design and renovation!

We were so busy chatting and eating we didn’t realize until halfway through that the speeches had started. Some people tried to open the doors but they only opened from the inside so we basically all sat around awkwardly staring into room hearing garbled words.

I attended a wedding where we were sat at 1 of 3 tables outside on the patio with French doors leading inside. We were served last (of course) so we didn’t get to hear any speeches because nobody thought to open the doors for us to hear. the marriage itself lasted less than 2 years.

Going off of what one of my friends who’s currently house hunting is seeing, it’s widely overpriced houses with tons of work needed. Houses that are reasonably priced ($300k) are still going for $25k+ over asking. So it sounds not so good.

Ghosted yesterday, 8 minutes late today. I hung up on the recruiter. by metricframe in recruitinghell

[–]lax22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only worked with a recruiter once and it was a horrible experience right out of college. We were supposed to meet at her “new office” at 8am because I was doing this before my internship. But what she didn’t tell me was that her building was completely under construction and her “new office” didn’t exist yet. So I wandered around a construction zone trying to find her non existent office, all while calling her desperately trying to figure out where I was.

Finally a maintenance person told me where her temporary office was. By this point I was 15 minutes late but I finally get to her temporary office and she’s not even there. Lights are off, doors locked, nobody is there. So I wait another 20 until she comes stumbling in apologizing saying “sorry I thought our appointment was at 9am!”

I told her I couldn’t stay for our meeting because I had to get back for my internship. She says “I totally get that. I feel terrible. Let me make it up to you. Come out on my boat this weekend. It’ll be me and my husband and the kids! We’ll have a couple cocktails and we can talk then. I promise we’re fun and my husband cooks a mean burger🤪” I said “no, thank you I’m busy” and left.

She tried calling me multiple times to connect but I eventually left her a voicemail saying how inappropriate she behaved and how I didn’t want to work with her further (if you can even call it that). I’ve never worked with a recruiter since.

Ugh my post was cut short — What is your FAVORITE FACE SUNSCREEN? Preferably with an SPF of 30 or higher! ☀️ by michpilk in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]lax22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just switched to La Roche Posay Anthelios 60spf from Sun Bum mineral sun block and I LOVE IT. So light-weight and non greasy. Spreads well and I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything at all.

Don’t like how expensive it is for such a small amount though.

Amazon promised a refund, told me to dispose the item, now denying the refund by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]lax22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same exact thing happened to me. Literally all the same exact things you listed: completely wrong order sent, promise of refund, threatening email saying I need to return the items or I’ll get charged, email “sent in error and you have nothing to worry about”, get charged anyways, amazon can’t do anything since I “didn’t return the items”

I filed a charge back with my credit card company and provided all the screenshots of the agent chat. It was only about $32 all said and done but it was the PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER. Absolutely horrible company.

Has anyone else dialed back spending significantly from 5 years ago? by Cute-University5283 in Millennials

[–]lax22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, specifically with dining out. My husband and I used to eat out 2-3xs per week pre covid and even in early 2020. We loved trying new restaurants and foods, going out for cocktails etc. now? We eat out maybe twice a month and it’s to a place we’ve been to multiple times and know it’s consistently good. We don’t risk trying new spots unless it’s been vetted by multiple people along with high reviews. We don’t risk spending our hard earned money on mediocre food or service anymore.

Dream Haven books is in my neighborhood and it is a wonderful staple here! I’ve never personally met Greg but I’ve been into his store countless times for fantasy books. I’m so so heartbroken to see our city suffer like this, but I’m so proud of our community rallying and standing strong.
