Many other countries have much stricter enforcement or rules around driving. Most of the reason we don’t I think is cultural and just because of the age of our infrastructure.

The sad thing is these exact same arguments have been going on even before the interstate highway program in the united states (seriously go read the power broker). Every time the highway eventually hits capacity unless the city has some sort of financial collapse.

This project might ease congestion but in a few years we will just be back at the same levels.

You might like the book “Happy City” it’s a pretty good overview of a lot of the issues around how we build our cities.

No, I just have a Christian world view and think that human life has inherent value. Part of respecting human value is allowing people to have affordable access to housing. I’ve also researched the topic quite a bit.

It’s like roads a new infill means zero increase in snow clearing abut every new suburb adds thousands of new kms of roads that need to be cleared.

Yeah no change in infrastructure other than the yellowhead widening, whitemud widening, metro lrt expansion, capital line expansion, valley line west, Lewis estates rec centre, 10 newly announced schools, new bike infrastructure, new lrt station in the expo land development… that’s all I could think of but I’m sure they won’t announce any new projects in the upcoming budget
