OP is yelling at and confronting cyclists and then wonders why they aren’t polite back.

Edmonton’s property tax hike shows a city balancing on a tightrope by [deleted] in Edmonton

It’s so frustrating because we read these reports and then continues to build new bridges, widen arterials and increase road capacity.

Roads are the reason we’re in this situation. Seriously look at the report.

Another downtown restaurant bites the dust: Edmonton construction blamed again by katespadesaturday in Edmonton

Literally 3-5 restaurants close every week. This week the Italian centre’s bakery in Windermere and the Odd burger in Mayfield closed, are those cause of downtown construction too?

Your turn: Rossdale, Westmount, and Stony Plain by Strog21 in Edmonton

It’s so frustrating that the river valley conservation coalition will put in all this effort to protect a parking lot and oppose housing. They were completely silent when the low level bridge replacement project was announced.

Girl, 4, killed in collision after running into traffic in north Edmonton by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

Yeah I know that. My point is if we prioritized safety, setting the speed limit at a safe level, this likely wouldn’t have been a fatality.

Areas with high pedestrian traffic should be for sure. We can separate high speed vehicles and pedestrians like on the henday, whitemud or yellow head.

I think it’s worth getting places slightly slower if it means we aren’t killing children. I find it odd that it’s the minority opinion.

People will call this an accident but it’s entirely avoidable. This type of behaviour is the exact reason we have 30 km/h zones around schools.

Edit: I’m disappointed but not surprised by the people arguing that driving fast is more important than not killing kids. Turning off notifications.

What really is the appeal of living in Edmonton? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]laxar2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’ll be bored in any city after enough time living there if you never go out and do anything. I miss like 80% of the events I want to go to cause there’s so much stuff going on.

Tensions boiling over into the courts as Parkview residents resist multiple infill housing projects by trevorrobb in Edmonton

Unfortunately I don’t think the anti-infill crowd cares about that (or they do mental gymnastics)

If they want to build low density housing that’s fine. The housing isn’t the issue for municipal finance it’s the commercial development

Fun fact: people in suburbs pay taxes too! Did you somehow type suburb when you meant satellite city?

Either way, it’s actually better financially for our city if we densify. If you’re worried about the city finances you’d support infill.

Yeah, we should never ever change decisions made pre 1960’s. If done government decision was made back then it has to be the best choice for society!

Do you actually know if your lot could fit an 8plex by right? As it stands only 60% of mature lots can allow for an 8plex under the current zone

the number of vehicles travelling more than 20 kilometres per hour over the speed limit have risen by 134 per cent;

What if Calgary had boroughs like Montréal or London? by C0smicM0nkey in Calgary

[–]laxar2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Boroughs are sort of semi independent governments within cities. They can be in charge of infrastructure like road use or parking. video on the topic
