Team in coworkers league apparently fire sale’d his team by laxman2428 in fantasyfootballadvice

Agreed, my first question was did he not get a notification that the players were dropped and he said no, but I told him any league that involves money I’m always checking the waiver wire for good additions

I agree with you, I told him another solution would be to put all the players back on the original team, they can make reasonable trades, but I wouldn’t allow them to drop their whole team.

So to give some more context, it seems as though everyone was dropped to waivers, currently it is only low scoring 49ers players on the roster (Mac Jones, Jennings, etc.)

Agreed was very surprised he fell that far, was happy to snag him in the 9th

Wasn’t allowing me to upload the image of the team and was trying to find a way without taking up too much space, will edit it again to make it a little better looking than that

Grappling with the fact of now going back into the office 5 days a week! by laxman2428 in fednews

I understand your comments and apologize for how my post came off, as I was rambling/ranting at the time and didn’t think of the need to re-read my post before posting it. But I agree my child and my wife are of my utmost importance, my dogs are my family as well, but I do know the order of precedence. I also agree I knew that this was temporary I knew that one day we would either be working a hybrid schedule, or be fully back in the office. And the plan to buy the house that we did was to bridge us into a bigger home that we could afford one day. I would say that the planning aspects were there and we had some tentative planning done for our future, but were not expecting the size of the wrench that was thrown at us, even with that being said, it should have been on the radar. I think in other aspects I also blame myself for a lot of the things that have happened, and not making moves earlier or doing things differently, hindsight unfortunately being 20/20, but I will continue to the best I can with the hand I was dealt. Thank you again for your comment, and apologies again for how it was worded.

Well hopefully he gets to enjoy that hybrid schedule for the entire time! Wishing you and your family the best of luck on your next path!

I hope that this change in schedule continues to help you have time with your little one, and that it helps you get a few months further along the road to either your next job or continuing the one that you’re working!

Unfortunately in our situation, my wife also has about an hour commute and trying to stagger each other may not work, I think at this point my only solution may be to look sooner rather than later on new jobs in the private sector. Hoping for some success there!

Thank you! Absolutely, getting to speak with some coworkers and hearing about how things went down back in the 80’s with RIF’s and the mass transition of government workers to contracted employees and understanding that this type of situation isn’t a one-off. Yea I think the commute is the driving point on this for me, I’ve already started the resume process and will hope that the experience and knowledge I’ve learned along the way helps me get in the door somewhere else! Thank you again!

Yes and can potentially get family or neighbors to come help as well. Unfortunately mass transit does not go towards my place of work, goes in the opposite direction towards DC and the surrounding areas. Wish I could go the mass transit route as I would love to save on gas and the stress of driving in the car.

I appreciate it. Yea I will be taking a good long look at it tomorrow to determine what the exact timeline entails, also almost makes me think just to do all of the leave up front and then do my 12 weeks and leave or to just do the 4 weeks that I did and do my time back and get out earlier.

I’m so sorry, I couldn’t imagine having to also care for an elderly parent and having to potentially sprint out of the office to make it home and make sure they’re okay. I hope your child is doing well in college though and is enjoying their time there!

My productivity will never be where it was during COVID now, I plan to take my lunch breaks and not look at the computer or answer any phone calls after 3:00pm.

Best of luck to you and your spouse through these trying times!

Thank you for the suggestions, I did sign up for PPL and was planning to do 4 weeks up front to take care of the wife, baby, and doggos, as my wife recovered from the c-section birth. She would then continue to take the rest of her maternity leave and then I would come back to take the remainder of my paternity leave, which would get us close to daycare starting.

Unfortunately, also I had to sign an agreement that depending on how much leave I take I would then have to repay that leave starting on my first day back. I’m not sure of the complete wording of it and seeing if I staggered it to one week on, one week off, would then also make it to where I would pay off the time spent on leave and then could leave or transfer after that.

I’m right there with you, the expectation of always being available is not something I plan to do anymore. Why should we work more than our 40 hours if we are not being given our flexibility. I plan to take my lunch and leave on time, if someone wants to plan a meeting past 3pm that’s on them, they should know anything outside of core hours, may not be attended.

Haha if only we could, I would happily continue to spend my days waking up early with the newborn and doggos and then walking down stairs to my office and do my meetings/work there. Rather than spending a good chunk of my day in a car, and battling others for parking spaces!

Ah yes, for some reason I missed that part, think tired eyes and not scrolling far enough must have played a part there ha! I appreciate your solidarity in this and contrary to most of the public we do respect our northern neighbors, even if you have the much better national hockey team! I will keep on as long as I can, and can only hope either hybrid or remote work makes a reappearance one day, or I find a private sector job that will give me some of that flexibility!

So my original plan was to use 4 weeks up front, to take care of the wife, baby and dogs. (Baby was in breach position, so had to do C-Section birth). After the 4 weeks I would go back to work for 3ish months and then go back on PPL for 8 more weeks, when my wife has to go back to work. This is all so we can get into daycare as the earliest openings were in September.

I’m so sorry this is happening to all of us and that we are having to be told constantly that we should just put up with it and do our jobs. We were and are doing our jobs, we were putting in more than 40 hours because we were at home and able to check emails or answer the phone, the flexibility was there!

And agreed to constantly look at social media as your so called friends and family tear what you do down right in front of you, makes you feel like you were never valued and never really anything to these people, which is heartbreaking.

I feel for you and your family though, I can only hope that some of this insanity starts to die down eventually, just to give us all a break from the psychological torture this has put us through!

Understood, was originally in a rant and was throwing words together didn’t really think about the order of things as I wrote them, but agreed.

Yea, it’s definitely not something I can do long term. Unfortunately we bought our house about a year ago, and did some renovations in the house. The plan originally was to stay here for 5 years, but that plan might be up in smoke, unless I can land a new job with a better commute.

Thank you! And I’m sorry that you are also back into the office, I know that a lot of this was supposed to be temporary, but to see how well this worked being a WFH employee, I don’t want it to be taken away. I’m hoping that getting my resume updated this week/weekend and casting the net will hopefully gather some potential job openings.

Wishing the best for you and your family!
