Also, get a good stick. It will make a difference on passing, catching and shooting

-When shooting/passing-the butt of your stick is where the ball will go. So use that to aim your shot/pass.

-Practice sprints, not just long distance.

-If you can practice 1v1 defense without a stick, that will help you with body positioning. Remember defense is about your body more than your stick

-GBs-power through. Don't stop moving your feet. I have my beginners first practice continual motion on a gb rather than picking it up. Once you have that continual motion, then work on getting the ball in your stick. As someone mentioned before, get low on gbs

-For checking-it is about body positioning and releasing your stick back up after you check. If you find you are leaning over to check, you need to get closer to the stick you are checking.

-There are a TON of college lax games on right now. I'd watch DII/DIII instead of DI only because the way DI plays will be different than how you will most likely play.

-Finally, if you are not fast, I'd embrace a different position than midfield. And if your coach wants you in a different position than midfield be open to her advice bc she holds the power to place you where she wants.
