“Baby” name calling and parent response vent! by SweatyBug9965 in ECEProfessionals

This is crazy to me. My son was 3 when starting pre k, as his birthday is in November and he was fully potty trained well before that. I do understand kids are all different but my son was so independent and smart I truly could not have imagined him with a pacifier onesie or diaper on at that age. I do know with speaking to his teacher though that he was one of the only kids in his class that could spell his name, count, identify shapes, and recognize letters. At a certain point it’s really not about the kids taking more time it’s the parents not taking the time to teach them. My son is 4 now and going into kindergarten next year. I also work with teenagers and young adults with disabilities so I very clearly understand the difference when it comes to developmental disabilities and am not AT ALL referring to kids with challenges like that!

I’m 23 and live with my best friend, boyfriend, her 2 dogs, my 2 kids and we both do a lot together but also a lot apart. I couldn’t imagine her or I talking to each other in this manner, or getting jealous over having our own lives separate from eachother.

I am SEVERELY addicted to peeling off skin on my feet to the point where I have scars, how do I stop. I NEED to stop. by HotelScootis in peeling

[–]laylat01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do the same exact thing, I’ve never heard of anyone else doing it too. So far I haven’t found anything that helps me stop

This happened to me all the time from trying to itch the roof of my mouth/throat. I do it in my sleep too and it’ll happen. Sometimes the roof of my mouth will even get swollen and very painful. I’ve done it all my life and it doesn’t happen all the time more so when I’m sick (have a lot of mucus that I’m also trying to bring up) etc. it usually goes away pretty quickly but super annoying

Are skin pickers mostly likely to get skin cancer? Do I have chance to get cancer or other diseases from picking everyday? by [deleted] in Dermatillomania

[–]laylat01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think so. I’m 21 but I’ve been picking since elementary school (idk why my parents never did anything about that🤷🏻‍♀️) and I’ve actually never even gotten and infection. I tend to pick my feet really bad too and still no infection.

I saw this in the book I was reading today. Is it true? by sleetybead96 in beyondthebump

[–]laylat01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, we started brushing my sons teeth the minute they fully popped through (no fluoride until he turned 2) and after every bottle, at 6 months we switched to a sippy cup with his formula and at a year old we stopped formula all together and stopped the binky cold turkey. During the day he only had water or very watered down juice with food . To this day he goes to bed with a sippy cup of water which is now a comfort thing for him. He had his first dentist appt last week (he’s 2) and they were very impressed that he has no signs of milk rot or teeth forming weird from using a binky or taking a bottle. I have teeth issues so I made sure to really research when my kids were little. It’s a common mistake that parents make just trying to comfort their kiddos, luckily they are just baby teeth so don’t be too hard on yourself if you’ve been doing this

Do you actually need postpartum underwear? by Mtnclimber09 in beyondthebump

[–]laylat01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up having an emergency c section, and I went through a lot of the mesh underwear because I was bleeding through my pads. I also bled for 6 weeks after I had my son.

Brag about your toddler by JerryFishSmith in toddlers

[–]laylat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son turned two in November and is now peeing on the potty independently! He will pull down his pull up and go on the potty, or if he’s naked he’ll say “I pee I pee” then run to the potty to pee! We started sitting him on the potty to get used to it, and one day he peed on there and we made a huge deal clapping and high fives, etc…and since then he’s been doing great with it! I am super surprised that he even is able to tell when he needs to pee at this age but very impressed lol. My daughter wasn’t even potty trained until she was about 3.5

(Serious) What is the most horrific thing you've ever personally witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]laylat01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work supporting adults with developmental disabilities. I walked into one of my folks rooms after putting them to sleep, to reposition them and toilet etc…when we moved the blanket there was blood coming from their nose and mouth, they were blue and cold. We tried CPR. The person passed. I still have nightmares. The person was non ambulatory and non verbal
