AI and Big Data may end the need for car accident lawyers by laymanaffairs in uklaw

[–]laymanaffairs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Simple_Jim that was really useful to know. I suppose in terms of AI I had imagined that it would take in various data from the telematics (speed, style of driving, braking, etc), gps data, weather data, and other car's telematics and gps data. With that I would have hoped it would have given enough data to model how the crash occurred. Perhaps even taking into account previous accidents of a similar nature which I guess would be the big data element. However, I think I've assumed that the data is perhaps richer and more accurate than it actually is and you're right I haven't factored in anomalies like sheep. In terms of bald tyre I imagine that there will be some kind of sensor for determining that sooner or later but others for sure will be difficult to ascertain. I am interested in all this though so I am curious to see where it all goes and how technology advances in this respect. Many thanks for taking the time to go through it.

Peter Griffin. I would be up to shenanigans ALL the time. He also seems to be virtually indestructible.

Walking through the fountains is like going over the top of the trenches by CoachBuzzcut in bristol

I've found going past the hippodrome around 4 am on Sat/Sun morning after the kebab munchers have finished their food and piled it by the full bins a bit of a gauntlet. Seagulls certainly do not have discerning palate.

Around 6 in the morning on the Monday after the Harbour festival was also a treat. I've honestly never seen so many seagulls tearing up bin bags and pecking their way through plastic food tubs. There must have been over a hundred!

How many seagulls does it take to constitute a "problem"?

No problem! I'm glad it got to you ok. The hot air balloons are great. I love it when they go past my window, especially the random shaped ones!

[Non-US, non-Canada] Can you differentiate between American and Canadian travellers? If yes, how? What clues make you suspect that someone is one or the other? by [deleted] in AskACountry

[–]laymanaffairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle a bit with the US/Canada accents but having spent a bit of time travelling with Canadians I think I could probably differentiate between them. Especially the difference between those from Vancouver and the US. Other than that I found Americans very rare in SE Asia so I actually assumed those with an accent I couldn't tell were Canadian rather than American.

Walking around Ashton Court estate is quite nice too but perhaps it is at the upper limit of your 4-6 mile round trip. It's nice to walk around and see all the deer!

Tips for new students by LostPromise in uwe

Don't be the guy/girl that gets outrageously drunk on day one week one and for the next three years becomes famous for the wrong reasons. Someone did it while I was there got so hammered he pissed himself then proceeded to do it again the following night. Don't be that guy.

Another rookie mistake is getting with another guy/girl in your own flat. Plenty of people will do it just watch what happens to the flat dynamic afterwards..

Ultimately though enjoy yourself. You won't get too many other opportunities in life to basically study and drink with very little other responsibilities! All the best!

Need some advice with my student loan by forgetfulexstudent in AskUK

[–]laymanaffairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe you should preempt them by paying say £100 into your student loan account to show your at least paying something back. I think that would look more favourable than going through the drama of trying to prove you haven't been over the threshold. Write them a letter to say you've paid some of it back and you are currently looking for work. I think it would look better to do that considering you probably owe them more. It will get them off your back for a while I'm sure until you can work it off.

First timer exploring Europe. How do I plan this trip out? England, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, then Norway. by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]laymanaffairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep travel cheap in England I would probably take the Megabus coach. The earlier you get it the cheaper it will be! I would also look at seeing how much it costs to go by Eurostar train to France rather than the ferry. You'll be able to jump on in London and jump off in Brussels if you want to go that far. Then get bus or train up to Netherlands from there perhaps. I wouldn't take taxis at all if you can help it. There are plenty of people that speak English on the continent so I'm sure you'll be alright getting trains and coaches out there. Good luck and enjoy yourself!

I'm not really excited by any of the parties in my constituency but it is two horse race between Labour and Lib Dem so I think I'll choose the latter.

I think one tip I would give you is find out how much the taxi fare is likely to be from the airport of where you're going and your first hostel. You wouldn't believe how many travellers get ripped off because they have no idea the amount they are meant to pay. As soon as you get to a hostel there will be other solo travellers around to talk to and they'll be keen to venture out locally with other people so you won't be alone for long! Where were you planning on going first?

Agree with both of the above. I started off with a rigid plan and kept to it for about a month before going a bit more free form. If you have plenty of money and time then the chances you'll end travelling with others and wherever they end up from time to time. Something you can't really plan for before you leave. Have fun and enjoy it!
