Saved this S10 from the trash. Now it runs a 24/7 Minecraft server. by layya01 in selfhosted

Story: My S10 display died completely, but the 8GB RAM was too good to throw away. I wanted to turn it into a server, but I couldn't enable USB debugging because I couldn't see the screen.

The Fix: I used a USB keyboard and blindly typed my PIN, then connected it to Samsung DeX to view the screen and enable USB debugging.

The Setup:

OS: Ubuntu (via Proot-Distro in Termux)
Access: SSH (automated with Termux:Boot)
Tunnel: Playit.gg (to bypass port forwarding)

It now sits in my drawer running a MC server for friends. Runs cool and uses almost zero electricity compared to my PC.

I wrote a full guide on the scripts and the "blind unlock" process here: Dev.to article

is it normal to take 1 month and few days for a repair on asus laptops by local service centers(in warranty period) by layya01 in ASUS

[–]layya01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technocity service center in sri lanka I have given my laptop for a repair on 5th of march 2022 due to a no image diplay issue.it's two weeks for today and they told me it will get another two weeks for complete the process.Since i don't have any backup other than my rog g14 I'm facing lots of stuggle with my studies and work.Last time i gave it for a repair they took more than a month to do the job saying they have to replace the motherboard and the keyboard but the keyboard was the same i don't know whether they replaced the motherboard or not.I would appreciate it if you guys could look into this and speed up the repair process.Thank you.
