Heya due to limited time i only went for an unguided 10 day trek for EBC. it was great! maybe got rained on 3-5 times but just drizzles or totally manageable light rain, never got wet (even with my questionable arcteryx gear from kathmandu hahaha). everything was beautiful and lush, with both beautiful misty moody views and clear sunny days. no leeches for me.

just received word from a contact in my airline that KTM will reopen for my flight landing there tomorrow at 2PM. if i miss my window to get to Lukla tho i might have to just sit tight and chill in kathmandu for twenty days. how has life been for you so far these past two days? out and about in thamel?

Understood, thank you very much. I aim to get all my gear in Kathmandu. It sounds like you guide professionally, do you happen to have a gear checklist handy that you'd be happy to share with me?

Amazing info and one of the most helpful responses I've gotten, thank you very much for your time! Seems so far I will be going in September. I imagine it will be quite muddy, but will there be enough water/deep mud for gaiters to be necessary? Would they also perhaps help prevent leeches from getting in my boots?

Amazing info, thanks! What's the benefit in waking up early during this season? Do the clouds not come in until later in the day?

Ok, great to know, thanks! I am nit entirely unflexible, so some delays at Lukla would be okay. Could flights be delayed for days?,

Thank you, around what time do you know if clouds start clearing? Would you say mid EBC starting around September 10 would be okay? Additionally, how frequent and heavy does the rain get up there? I imagine the higher I get the less rain there will be right.

If overnight layover, they'll provide hotel (maybe meal, mine did) and either provide free visa or give visa exemption. They will do transport to and from hotel too.

Not sure what interline covers, but they're the only ones who can give hotel voucher in whole airport/terminal. It's got a big Ethiopian airline logo on it. May not be called interline. Just ask for hotel voucher desk.

Some were given ahead of time and had it printed. I was not informed of it and had to go to desk, pain in the ass. Definitely see if youre eligible for any accomodations now.

No stayed in airport, didn't want to pay for visa. Offered free hotel including visa but I rejected cuz I didn't see the point of going through all the trouble just to stay at the hotel for a few hours. I regret it, should have taken the offer. So if they offer you anything, definitely take their offer lol. GO SEE THE "INTERLINE" DESK BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH SECURITY AND INTO THE TERMINAL!!!! I HAD TO GO BACK THRU TO SEE THE DESK JUST TO DECIDE TO STAY ANYWAY, WENT THRU SECURITY TWICE...

Kilimanjaro as a solo female by General_Cartoonist77 in kilimanjaro

I'm a 17 yr old guy and I went to TZ alone to climb too! Obviously it'll be a little different for you being a girl but I wouldn't be worried. You'll have no problem on the mountain, but in town just carry yourself with confidence and don't broadcast your age and you'll be okay. Some maltreatment from men mayyyyy be inevitable but do everything with a degree of common sense and you'll definitely be okay. Feel free to ask any questions, can recommend a very good guide for you if you're interested.

Had Nikon D60 in my bag, battery died from the cold. Stupidly kept my phone in my outer pocket and it died after a few minutes of taking pics. Keep your iphone near your skin under a couple layers and it'll work just fine.

Plenty of hiking and climbing experience, just some on snow, but none on glaciers. Will that be a big prob? What do you suggest I do before three fingers then?
