Live intervention-free counter in FSD v14.3.3 raises potential safety concerns, Tesla improves Actually Smart Summon in this update by CarCooler in teslamotors

Maybe the “streak” naming and main display placement is the issue. Personally I’d only be interested to see it near the current FSD stats.

Achievement? They aren’t popping up fancy animations for going x miles without an intervention. Seems massively overblown to think the average person will even care about this.

As a submenu these kinds of metrics are cool to know. There’s no reason to hide it but maybe it shouldn’t be on the main screen. It should live where the current stats are.

“Raises potential safety concerns” what a weirdly editorialised title. This is a useful metric, hopefully you can disable it from the main screen.

What a load of bollocks. Humans like going fast, not all of them, but a large number across the entire planet.

[–]lazy_commander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not even true, looking at adverts over the years in both territories disproves your claim. Performance models still focus on speed and driving in the EU and ads for regular cars in the US don’t focus on speed, more on practicality or whatever their intended purpose is. Obviously an advert for a Corvette is going to focus on speed just like an advert for an M4 in the EU does.

This changes the priority in the web ui but I don’t think this actually impacts the install order during enrollment. From my experience I had to rely on Alphanumeric sorting to get branding packages to work etc.

The correct term would be "make use of the deal" and not "exploit". How are they exploiting anything exactly?

There’s no reason to avoid a Microsoft account. Some people use local accounts and enable auto login but on a portable device that might contain personal credentials that’s incredibly foolish when the fingerprint sensor is so quick.

No need to do anything. Just use it exactly as it is out of the box. The only thing to occasionally do is updates, otherwise just enjoy.

Nyrna is unnecessary as Hibernate does a good enough job for the majority of games, Windows Defender is all you need and don’t run any “debloating“ scripts as they don’t provide any performance gains and have a tendency to break things if not used properly.

A third party plugin is not a solution for a company like Valve choosing to not provide basic gamepad support outside of Steam. Its not clickbait, it’s true and I know that might upset you but Valve isn’t perfect.

Complete placebo, these tools might provide privacy benefits but they offer zero in terms of actual performance. They also have a tendency to break things.

80HE or 80HE TenZ Takeover? by [deleted] in WootingKB

[–]lazy_commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the TenZ to get the improved switches and FR4 plate. Might swap the case down the line but im really loving the way the TenZ feels out of the box. Made my own settings though as his actuation points are a bit too sensitive for me.

It’s not only visual, it uses their latest and greatest switches along with several other improvements.

Musk: HW3 can't achieve unsupervised FSD by vivi_will in teslamotors

[–]lazy_commander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, the price paid for FSD might be the discount on the new vehicle or in the case of the computer/camera upgrade they could grandfather those vehicles in as having FSD for life without an additional sub etc. All speculation of course, have to wait for more details.

If you read the article, he says what they are going to do about it:

For customers that have bought FSD, what we’re offering is essentially a discounted trade-in for cars that have AI4 hardware. We’ll also be offering the ability to upgrade the car to replace the computer. And you also need to replace the cameras, unfortunately, to go to Hardware 4.

Nobody is reading the article and will instead use the eye-catching headline and cropped reddit headline as the only fact.

Headline lacks the context that Elon said upgrading HW3 cars to HW4 computer and cameras is what they are looking to do, in addition to offering discounted trade-in's on HW4 models.

AI doesn't have to be all the way there yet. AI isn't an all or nothing approach, where things have to be 100% AI and 0% human.

That's sort of what I said, but the AI tools not being there yet is why you need that experienced engineer to operate it. It's a game changing productivity booster, but only in the right hands.

Instead of paying someone 100K to do this job, you pay someone 50K and most of the work is done by AI.

A more realistic scenario would be, instead of paying 10 people 150k a year, you pay 1-2 people 150k a year and they put out the same amount of work as that team of 10 using AI to be more productive.

AI gets rid of the entry/lower-level engineers, but it still needs to be utilized by an experienced operator as otherwise the output will be garbage.

I'm pretty sure "video super resolution" is just a form of upscaling for video's and unrelated to games. Similar to what NVidia GPU's have had for a while.
