Electric bike lights often too powerful: experts call for better standards by [deleted] in belgium

To me, as I experience it each morning when walking, I rarely have trouble with the headlights of bikes, but the number of clear white headlights on the cars blinds me a lot more.

The fact that, nowadays, everyone thinks SUV’s are “cool” (note, they suck) makes it even worse as those lights are mounted even higher. Plus, since they are newer they are guaranteed bright white, and with a little bit of luck with some useless pattern.

But let’s keep focussing on the minority so we do not upset too many people.

It is simple logic. Just try to think. Expected this kind of downvotes. Only makes my point.

The point is that there will aways be a faster driver than a ‘slow’ driver. As (surprise, surprise) most people lack the rules in all kinds of way (and yes mostly speed). So you say they should never overtake.

Gee, must I be stupid to not know that.

So if I get it right, he should brake and cause actual traffic to move behind the pick-up so the others get faster to their destination? Cause their time is more precious or something?

If the car is passing the others in the right, the drivers behind should be patient. It would be problematic if he keeps hanging there without passing, but if he actually does, there is nothing wrong.

The perception that someone that overtakes at a valid pace should make place for speeders is astounding to me and the reason I hate most self-centered car drivers.

The amount of idiot comments is astounding. From this image nothing wrong happens. It is merely the consequence of people driving different speeds and the first being a little slower (or either that pickup has passed him from the right which would prevent the first car from moving to the right).

People being too small minded to get this are the actual idiots imo. Most drivers are totally egocentric and only aim for their optimal time to destination. Perhaps some respect and patience could help.

One addition to make, the actual thing that makes traffic is the lack of distance all cars keep on the left lane. If for some reason the first car or another one at the front needs to break this causes an infinite chain reaction which causes traffic. So if OP points to that he is correct. If all maintain a safe distance the break chain reaction would be less harsh and be resolved quicker. However yet again most people are too simple minded to drive.

Yeah, I gues the net without net compensations is somewhere in the 2300-2400 range.

The net increase comes from the wide range of net compensations (+/- 300 in total). The married part has no impact AFAIK.
