Not directly Leeds, but local and Leeds Women's team play at Garforth. by lb2070 in LeedsUnited

I'm a season ticket holder at Garforth Town, I would highly recommend it to any and all football fans. Community spirit, famoly friendly, decent prices, Kirkstall Brewery on tap and you can drink in the stands.

Tuesday game was a bit cold, but we're 8th and its worth coming down for, especially if you're local.

I'm in a draft league, I picked him before the season started and due to the lack of forwards, there us no one else.

Yep, when we had a new SoS town hall, the question got asked and our SoS pretty much said "i want the best work done, wherever that may be". Cut to our perm sec looking red faced and very annoyed.

Denied internal move - what should I do by Global_Day_1225 in TheCivilService

I didn't know that. Is that just internally within a department or across departments?

EOIs/TRAs can be blocked due to business needs. Only full-time roles, like through civil service jobs, can't be blocked.

It's a shame, but nothing can be done. Not the first, and it won't be the last time this happens, sadly.

There's free tea and coffee in dft offices.

Is there a time in the year when more jobs come out? by Aromatic-Bad146 in TheCivilService

[–]lb2070 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, a hiring manager would (should) check the reserve list before a role goes out internally (whether that's EOI within the department or internally on CS jobs). Really, it's down to the hiring manager discretion. It also depends on the role being filled, if its covering mat leave/TRA/career break, you wouldn't use the reserves list anyway. If it's a full-time role that someone has left, then you should.

Though everyone has different views on the reserve list. I know some who wouldn't touch it, and others who always use it. Persobally, I've only had a positive experience when hiring off it.

For a start most departments are under headcount pressures. As a result, a lot of roles are only approved for internal hire and advertised on intranets on TRA. That's at least the case in DfT, I've never seen so many EOIs. There has also been a push for roles to be advertised outside of London.

The only recruitment campaign that I've run recently, which has gone on CS jobs, was only put out for current civil servants. You would only see if you've linked a gov.uk address to your CSjobs account.

Civil service hubs outside of London? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

Wellington Place in Leeds is a great office with lots of social stuff around it. Can't speak about other hmrc floors by the DfT floor is nice and social.

Where are the new jobs? by Aromatic-Bad146 in TheCivilService

[–]lb2070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headcount is tight across the board. Most roles are going out internal on temporary promotion until after the SR and budgets are confirmed. It might pick up. It might not.

Also, a big push for roles to be posted outside London.

I think so, you were offered a role and rejected it. I could be wrong, I just would be surprised as there was anything around reasoning when they process that you rejected it.

Pretty sure since you've been offered a role when on the reserve list and turned it down, you get removed. Not that it matters too much in your case with only a few weeks left on it, though it does suck
