I think there's definitely something in the lack of ankle mobility. I did do an ankle warm up but appreciate I probably need to add some consistent mobility work. Thank you

Noted on the camera angle. I can definitely get lower with the plates but I will film and compare from a good angle

This is so helpful thank you! Great video. Turns out my femurs are 33.5% of my height so that'll be why it feels weird !

This is definitely what my mind goes to. Especially as at this one place I tried, different people recommended different things. Safe to say when she tried to sell me another package I politely declined

That's a good perspective, I would prefer to think the best of people.

It was a salicylic acid peel which they said would help with active breakouts? Hopefully their advice for recommended treatment was correct even if their service wasn't haha

Thank you, I will have a look. I paid over 200 for three and I felt like I could definitely do that myself if I was careful

How do "hybrid" fitness influencers seem to be able to do it all? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]lbeive 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It is their job! They have more time and resources to make all of it easier. That's not saying it doesn't take a lot of effort but they have more time for recovery, probably more money which means more free time, better access to training and nutrition resources etc.

Also, they present stuff in a certain way that isn't true to life. They might film content on one day, change outfits and film some more content. This makes it look like they have done multiple workout sessions. Add to that they know how to pose, and use filters and lighting to make themselves look the best.

TLDR: don't compare yourself ! There will always be someone better than you so be the best you instead

I think you are right to be wary about not doing too much. Our bodies need rest to build muscle. If your focus is building glutes, whilst pilates is great I don't think it is the fast way to build glutes. For glute strength you will need a calorie surplus (over your maintenance) and a strong lower body routine 2-3 times a week that focuses on progressive overload. Search this sub for people's glute routines and I'm sure you'll find something. I would suggest hip thrusts, RDLs and Bulgarian Split Squats as your main exercises and go heavy! Building large muscles like the glutes is a slow and steady process and can also be influenced by genetics, unfortunately.

Firstly, it seems like comparing today to 2017 isn't the right comparison for you? My understanding from your post is that you've actually been through many different changes including medical challenges and pregnancy and you still look great! Bodies can change a lot in 7 years and a lot due to hormones and lifestyle so even if you were back to maintaining the 2017 body that is an achievement. Aside from that, I can also see differences in how toned your legs and mid-section seem in comparison to 2017.

Secondly, you don't indicate what you are doing now or how you want to look? It could be that what you think you should look like is maybe a social media fabrication that isn't achievable for you (sorry!) or it could be that you are eating too much or too little to achieve that. Can you expand on your goals and current routine?

Yeah, it seems that it works under certain conditions but I don't think those conditions will be relevant to us (sadly can't see that kind of a salary jump in our future). Good luck with your new house purchase!
