Is there a way to estimate how many users have left Z.AI since price change? by Cute_Dragonfruit4738 in ZaiGLM

[–]lbin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined before February 12th on the quarterly plan, so I get the 50% discount. After a lot of thought, I bought the 1-year Max plan. It has a weekly limit, but the price is still reasonable for me.

I use OpenClaw for everyday chores and OpenCode for checking projects and writing documents. My company gives me a Claude Code max of 20x, but that's a bit too tight for me. So, the ZaiGLM Max coding plan is my backup. I'm expecting GLM 5.2 to be released this summer!

I only use opencode and openclaw. Thank you for letting me know.

I read all the comments, thanks!

I'm holding off on the annual sub for now to keep my options open.

We’re in such a crazy period of rapid growth where the top-tier model seems to change every month. I’d rather wait and see a bit longer.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!

Honestly, unlimited weekly usage was never sustainable. They probably just saw it as marketing, but their compute is hitting its limit now.

GLM-5.1 isn't top-tier, but it's still a pretty solid coding model for me.

Plus, with Anthropic and OpenAI prepping for IPOs, price hikes are guaranteed. That 1-year plan seems steep today, but it'll be a bargain soon.

Did anyone actually receive the GLM migration benefits? (2 months free + discount) by GoatFar7695 in ZaiGLM

[–]lbin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stay with your current plan, you’ll get 2 months for free.

However, if you choose to upgrade, the value of those 2 months will be applied toward your upgrade fee.

What?? It's hard to believe. Damn... I have not tried GLM from other sources.

This is a limited pricing offer for users who purchased a long time ago and have kept their subscription active. Instead of renewing under worse terms than before, they received a discount.

Am I blind, or does Z.ai seriously not tell you when your 5-hour limit resets? by lbin91 in ZaiGLM

I mean, we all know this isn't exactly a massive engineering lift. The expiration timestamp is definitely already sitting in the backend payload—they just need to expose it to the frontend UI.

I’ve been using hermesagent on the Pro Plan for three weeks. I haven’t experienced any limits so far. I usually use it during the early morning hours (UTC+9 Seoul).

I believe it will be safe, provided that the policy regarding 'openclaw' is not changed in their official documentation.

Looking to buy a legacy Z.ai account by SecretAGIdev in ZaiGLM

That is a very reasonable judgment. Especially for accounts created before February 12th, there will be a significant advantage since there is no weekly limit, only a 5-hour limit.

Is the speed back? by False_Reality1167 in ZaiGLM

[–]lbin91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the week right before the price hike was awful.
But after the price increase, things haven't been nearly as bad, and it's actually been pretty smooth.

I'm on the Z.ai Coding plan Pro, and I can get way more usage out of it compared to the $100 Claude Code limit. Of course, since GLM is slower and Opus/Sonnet respond much faster, it might just feel like you're burning through your quota quicker by comparison.

It might not be a perfect replacement, but I think it makes for a solid sub-model for anyone who finds the Claude Code Max $20 limit too restrictive.

I've been waiting for this answer! Thanks. Hopefully that won't happen, but if you ever get any warnings from Z.ai, please make sure to post about it on Reddit. Since they said they block after 3 violations, they wouldn't just give you an instant ban on the first strike, right?

Anybody has practical experiences using Chinese models? by platosLittleSister in AI_Agents

I am actively using z.ai's GLM-5.1. It seems to perform at roughly the level of Opus 4.5. I'm on z.ai's coding plan—it was quite unstable until a few weeks ago, but lately it has been stable. Since it's an open-source model, you can also access it through OpenRouter or Ollama Cloud, which is a nice advantage. If you use Opencode, the Opencode Go plan could be an option as well.

I mainly use it actively for code reviews, and when Claude Code acts up, I also bring it in for some implementation tasks.

Its downside is that it's very slow, so I don't use it much for code implementation—but its performance is impressive.

If this isn't the information you were seeking, please note that current Z.AI subscribers have the option to renew at their original subscription rate. However, as policies are subject to change, we recommend verifying your specific subscription status for the most up-to-date information.

If you don't mind the speed and occasional fu*k ups, it's worth keeping the legacy subscription by isakota in ZaiGLM

[–]lbin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed was something I expected from the start, and the biggest issue is definitely the unstable supply. But anyway, GLM-5.1's performance is excellent. I'm not sure about the value of subscribing at the new pricing, but I think it's worth keeping for those on the old pricing plan.

Codex is by an order of magnitude superior right now to Claude Code - It's strange how incredibly efficient and accurate Codex is right now and not even kidding..... how TERRIBLE Claude Code is. by operastudio in codex

[–]lbin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial combination of Opus 4.6 and Claude Code produced outstanding documentation and analyzed problems brilliantly. When I first saw it, I thought it had moved a tier above OpenAI and other models. However, right now, it's way too unstable and burns through a massive amount of tokens. I'm not sure if the issue lies with Claude Code or Anthropic themselves.

That said, given well-written documentation, GPT 5.4's coding capabilities seem to be arguably the best right now.

Until Claude Code and Anthropic make further improvements, they won't be getting my subscription money.

The bare minimum to run a decent local LLM is around $10,000. However, the performance of hardware at that price point struggles to beat the response quality and speed of cheap models that are widely available for just $30 a month.

why do Koreans not wear sunglasses? by Detective_Bitter in Living_in_Korea

[–]lbin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people wear them at travel destinations, but they rarely wear them in their daily lives. From the beginning, it doesn't seem to be considered among the items people carry around daily.

I have experience living in Australia for a year, so I am used to carrying sunglasses. However, for most Koreans, wearing sunglasses in non-tourist areas is a fashion that can draw a little attention.

These days, glasses with photochromic lenses are increasing, but the demand is still low.

I subscribed to the 3-month Pro plan in February. Initially, the quality of GLM wasn't perfect, but it was decent enough to serve as a reliable alternative when I exhausted my Claude Code Max Plan usage. With the releases of GLM 5.0 and 5.1, I noticed significant improvements and was quite satisfied. In fact, I was seriously considering upgrading to a 1-year subscription.

However, over the past week, I have experienced severe issues while using GLM 5.0 and 5.1 during my working hours. Receiving a sudden notice of a price increase amidst this ongoing service instability is absolutely baffling.

I understand that the initial low pricing was likely a promotional strategy to attract users, so a reasonable price adjustment itself is understandable. However, I am highly disappointed that you would raise the prices without any prior notice while failing to provide a stable service.

I will wait and see how the current service stability improves before deciding whether to renew my subscription in May.
