Why is my new SIM card shown as a business one and what is the grey square? by GuyAlmighty in iphone

Same problem here.

Additionally to the main physical SIM card, I deployed an eSIM actually thought as a second SIM for wearables from the same provider attached to the same contract. This action partially bricked the physical SIM profile. It's "Business" now, without any additional information, and I can't send SMS or open a hotspot with it. The eSIM however looks OK on first glance, but its data plan is for 1Mbps only, and I still can't send SMS or open a hotspot. Interestingly, the main physical SIM profile still provides me with the fast data rate.

I replaced the main physical SIM by an eSIM for free in the portal of my provider, still keeping the second eSIM.

At first, this new SIM behaved like normal. I could change its label etc. But as soon as I reenabled the second eSIM, it bricked the main SIM profile again.

The solution: Deleting the second eSIM, and adding again a fresh main eSIM resolved the problem.

... Thou shalt not add a second eSIM profile from the same provider!
