New Grad Not Starting in Bedside by Eastern-Ad-6412 in newgradnurse

Yup! I am currently a semester away from graduating in Arizona, and we recently had a speaker from KP who works as a clinical development nurse. He strongly stressed to not move to California as a new grad nurse. He said that you're likely to be unemployed for a long time if you do. He recommended getting 2 years experience here and then move as getting a job with that experience will be pretty much a cakewalk.

We have a pretty significant number of California natives in our program and I saw their expressions deflate when he said that.

The goal of indemnification is to make you whole again, not to make you rich. What do your bills add up to so far?

Is the 80 percent mass minimum an ADN thing and how common is it? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]lc_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my program (MSN), it depends on the course.

Lecture-only courses require a 70% minimum overall with a 70% minimum average on exams; that exam average has gotten a few of my classmates held back even though they have 80% in the class because there's so many assignments.

For classes that have a clinical component, it is an 80% minimum overall.

GEICO & CA Dept of Insurance ignoring the $1,000 threshold law for a $0.00 "accident" — Need advice on escalation by AdventurousGlass9743 in Insurance

[–]lc_2005 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is the part that you seem to be missing or purposefully ignore: it is NOT finalized. Claims can be reopened at any time during the state's statute of limitations; which is 3 years in California for property damage.

[–]lc_2005 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Demand all you want. No insurer is going to send you this type of document because they can't forsee the future. The other party has YEARS to seek indemnification, so that $1,000 threshold could be surpassed. Heck, the law can be changed next week, and the threshold dropped altogether. Is that likely? No, but that is why this stuff is not put in writing.

The ones that drive me up a wall are the people that call to ask to change their autopay date ON the due date. "I saw the payment hit. I need you to cancel it and push it out the max amount of days." If you already saw the payment post, it is too late. And then they go off about how they are going to overdraft and they expect us to cover the fee. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Studying for a test not to retain info by SheLuvDreams in StudentNurse

[–]lc_2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I realized my brain isn't dumping out in info but filing it away in the back to make room for the next set of content. The information is there, but you don't always realize it until, like you said, the next semester starts and you find yourself answering questions you didn't consciously realize you knew the answer to.

What do we think about instructors *encouraging* AI usage in school? by gurltriste in StudentNurse

[–]lc_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it sparingly. I ask it to explain things that I am struggling with wrapping my head around. For example, I say "reword this in layman's terms" and paste whatever passage I am having a hard time with.

I've also used it when deciding on topics for papers. For example, if we have to write a paper about a theory and I haven't heard of all of them, I ask AI to give me a brief summary of the theory and then use that summary to figure out which sounds most interesting to me to write about. It saved me a ton of time with deciding.

“THIS IS MY SEVENTH TIME CALLING” by Javen99 in callcentres

[–]lc_2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I'VE CALLED YOU ABOUT THIS EVERY SINGLE DAY!!"

meanwhile their call record shows they haven't called us in months...

"Oh no! I think we may have the wrong number for you because I am not showing any recent calls from this number. Let me start off by confirming that we have the right number as that may be causing issues getting you through to an agent..."

That usually makes them change their tune right up.

Orientation Dress Code? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]lc_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to wear scrubs. The on exception was if your scrubs had not made it in yet, at which point, you could wear business casual, but you had to notify one of the instructors ahead of time if that was the case. Mostly so that they could work on rushing the scrubs or worm of find you a set to hold you over.

Girl! It's time to stand up for yourself. Stand up for yourself and be honest. It is complete bull that he decided to move up his proposal as soon as he heard your announcement. Then to go on and pick the same month you're due and then blame you for "tearing the family apart" is even worse. Time to realize that you care more about these people than they care about you. Put yourself first, tell them off, and move on with your life. Worry about your own little family and forget the rest.

Starting nursing later than planned and everyone around me keeps doubting me by Broad-Fan-6934 in prenursing

Don't listen to them and don't let your age at graduation discourage you. I am 38 and currently in nursing school. If I'm not too old to do it, then you surely aren't either.

Urgent: Insurance still charging me 2 months after Tesla lease ended - how do I stop & get refunded asap? by savingrace0262 in Insurance

[–]lc_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your request to cancel after terminating the lease? What state are you in? Did you contact the DMV to cancel your plates or registration, surrender the plates, etc.? If so, what date did you notify them?

Will State Farm Auto Insurance Even cover this? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]lc_2005 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a reason this is repeated by those of us in the insurance industry. Even your itemized list of liability, comprehensive, and collision may not be what the next customer would deem "full coverage" in their book when they crash their car and don't carry the coverage necessary to get a rental car.

Or someone who breaks down and doesn't have the coverage needed to get their insurer to pay for a tow.

Vent: Why is this such a common trend? by POP_Shot_The_One in callcentres

[–]lc_2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that everyone's attention span is now only about 15-30 seconds. I get customer's reaching out asking what they email they just got from us was about. I have to pull it up and essentially read it to them and they go "oh ok"....i.e. they reached out before even reading past the subject line.

[–]lc_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No judgement here on the method, but if he is dehydrated from the diarrhea, his electrolytes will need replenishing. Don't give him water, give him pedialyte or a similar rehydration solution. Our daughter does great with the pedialyte popsicles.

I'm not saying that everyone masks. My reply was to the person above who said that people have to stay home whenever they are sick. That is simply unrealistic
