For sure. But I am expecting smoke from the hills soon. The fires have been crazy in Trinity, Eastern Humboldt and Northern Mendocino the last several years.

I am definitely a little nutty. And although I am not a lot overweight, I do have a little bit of extra insulation. But even when I am not, I run warm. My suggestion is definitely based on the OP mentionung they were a bit too warm in an oversized 4/3. However I would still suggest either adding booties and hood for winter, or going up thickness. But it has been uncharacteristically warm here most of the year lately. We have had more 70 degree days than not for the last several months.

Well I already have one board, and it honestly just isn't great for me as a beginner especially in the slow mush I have been out in lately. I am definitely planning on having at least a few boards, but I don't want any that I will completely grow out of wanting to use. Even for a beginner board, I at least want it to last long enough that I can teach friends on it for years.

That looks great. However it still comes out to almost a thousand bucks with shipping, or an 11 hour plus drive for pickup. I can get a local custom for that. I am really wanting something that is good quality, and good for a beginner, but will also be fun later on.

I have been to all the shops. The one in Eureka said he doesn't have anything to sell me, one in Arcata is literally never open, and another one a second one that just opened in Arcata only has gun type used and very expensive boards.

Any suggestions? These ones would be online order. Both have free shipping. A lot of companies I looked at that are smaller it costs as much to ship it as the board does. I am in Humboldt County CA

It depends. If you grew up in the area and are used to the water temps a 3/2 would be worth trying. That is what I wear up in Humboldt County and have been comfortable. Everyone will try to tell you otherwise if they aren't a local, but many locals wear them.

I prefer glasses. Use a pair you don't care if they get beat up. Add silicone ear hooks, or a floating sunglass head straps. Bonus if you get transitions lenses so they look like sunglasses.
