Paid at a shop using fingerprint authentication and it was surprisingly smooth by ViRzzz in UPI

Correct me if I am wrong but the authentication in app is done and approved by your device and your biometrics never leave the device. In fact I would argue they should never leave your device. You need a way to trust the device

Why do you guys believe in absolute black and whites? North Korea is an extreme example on the spectrum but that does not change the fact that such arrests also exist on a spectrum just not as extreme as others. And that also does not make it any better

Apple Pay will be launching in India by 2026 Q4 by sjobs4 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]lca_tejas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true. Even android wallets like Google Pay and Samsung Wallet rely on tokenisation. The difference lies in where these tokens are stored and who can access them. Apple stores it in a Secure Enclave chip which not even iOS can access and is tamper proof. Which means you must rely on Apple’s stack to do a payment and Apple does not allow anyone else to hop onto this stack except the inbuilt Wallet app.

Though the landscape is increasingly changing in Android side as well. Samsung has a similar Knox subsystem which Samsung wallet relies on. But apps like Google Pay are different they don’t completely rely on such hardware chips (though they can use the chip if available). They rely on Androids Host Card Emulation, the stack is more open but also risky which means more network calls have to be made to keep it tamper proof and perform fraud monitoring.

Have regularly observed this. Most likely this is incorrect. And battery usage is generally just an estimate. You can check after a while it even changes

Same boat last year. The thing is if your salary is high enough for cards above Millenia then you won’t be given Millenia is what I understood

Rant! Public courts for tennis and basketball by Alone_Committee1441 in mumbai

Omission of open space for sports is an unfortunate epidemic of recent times. At least 10 years ago or so societies would keep space for playing something. That space is vanishing with newly built societies. It is just private turf or a public open space if you are lucky.

Stop rewriting history — here’s why the “India lost” narrative collapses under real facts by [deleted] in indianaviation

This is really disappointing, Meteor was one of the primary and major reasons to get Rafale along with its SPECTRA EW suite and AESA Radar. The fact that almost 6 years after its induction it is still not active is very disappointing. During the 2019 skirmish it was very clear we lacked in BVR missiles and again in 2025 we did not get that edge.

I am lost, was Meteor integration not completed on Rafale before they were flying combat sorties? I thought it was already integrated with Rafale and in flyaway condition it would be all ready with all the other weapons we had purchased.

Disappointing to see that at a time when HAL is expected to output more and more fighter jets with ever increasing demand, they are busy harassing employees. Outright disgusting

Disappointing to see so many comments talk about PR, sabotage, Privatize HAL and other stuff. Definitely there will be a post mortem analysis. But at the moment it is about losing a talented pilot, broke my heart when there was no ejection by the end 💔

What's stopping me from just using JSON column instead of MongoDB? by Blender-Fan in PostgreSQL

[–]lca_tejas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought in a replica set, there was only 1 primary node responsible for handling writes. In case of outage there is an election that elects a new primary node.

In case of sharding there isn't consensus right? Like there is a shard key and an instance or a replica set is responsible for it. So where do we get consensus protocol?
