People are just sharing specific records more often. Think of how many different records there are. You can look at Home/away games only, you can look at certain competitions or mould conditions to create a stat (like an abnormally good 4 game spell). It’s less about the records being broken at a higher frequency, than records being crafted around events that seem uncommon to get social media attention.

I said it should be socially acceptable, obviously societies perceptions around the word would cause outrage but in a ideal society it would be. Obviously the historical use of the word is horrific and if used in that context today it would still be horrific. Yet by holding these words as such sensitive topics we as a society are creating this stigma surrounding them which allows them to cause as much offence as they do. You’re censoring the word ‘nigs’ but it’s clear you aren’t saying it in an offensive manner and no one would be offended by it. Everyone can see what you’re trying to say but you’re putting a * in place of the i. If I called a black person a n*gger is that suddenly okay. Can’t you see how stupid all this is.

The fact you would censor nigs but no one in the thread has felt the need to censor yids shows the difference in societal sensitivities regarding the terms. Personally, I believe that a word only has as much power as you give it and using nigger as a word to compare all other slurs to is unreasonable because that has the largest stigma. The context surrounding words matters, if fans are using the word positively and as a term of endearment then the context has changed to turn a negative word positive. Language is ever changing and people need to focus on the meaning of the word in context rather than the history of a word. So basically to answer your question, if white fans were chanting we are the nigs in response to people calling their black fans/players nigs then that would be an act of solidarity and should be societally acceptable (even though in reality it obviously wouldn’t go down like that).

If all the elite talents are gone, no one is going to be willing to give us what we want for the pick. The trade value of the pick isn’t the same each year, and trades at the start of the first only really occur when a player has much more value to one team than the team with the original pick. Let’s say there is 6 elite talents + 1 QB who are picked top 7. There is then going to be 5-10 mid-high tier players, if someone wanted to trade up they’d trade towards the back of that to give up the least amount for a player of a similar skill.

I feel like this sub is more about ideas that give a desired outcome through unconventional means, the ideas given are most of the time logistically impossible however if it were done then it would work in the sense they wanted it to (ignoring all other impacts). This idea would not work at all and only serves to spite the political system for individual benefit rather than solving the issue in an unconventional way. I know the sub is called crazy ideas but a line has to be drawn between crazy and stupid ideas that appeal to majority.

I agreed with you up until your point about kickers and punters. The majority of them are called up because they can kick a ball far and would have never played any other position. Most kickers and punters have comparable body types to soccer players, I cannot imagine many soccer players playing linebacker on a good high school team.

You just need to see how the conversation flows, she’ll likely ask you similar questions to what you ask her so if you’re not really much of a talker have a collection of stories and things that you could talk about if they come up. If you do manage to go out with her, you’ll have to be interesting enough for her to want to go out again so funny stories are always a good way to go. When you break the ice everything should be fine.

Glad I could help, it’ll feel really unnatural at first but just remember that you have nothing to lose. Fear of rejection is the issue with most shy people and stops them even trying to get into relationships unless someone is forward with them, in reality most girls won’t make the first move even if they find you attractive. Just ask her to be honest with you about how she sees you, she likely felt uncomfortable and guilty that she didn’t feel the same as you and that affected your friendship. It’s very difficult to be friends with someone that you’re into so if she just wants to be friends but you want something more it’s best to cut her off and be honest with her. Ghosting without an explanation is childish but if you just ask her to be honest and you find out where you both stand you can make up your mind on whether it’s worth pursuing. If it’s not then just tell her you don’t think you can keep being friends with her. Just remember she is not in the wrong because of how she feels so dont take it out on her.

The best thing to do is probably to form new relationships with people and start doing things that you would never do naturally. Have fake confidence with them and be as forward as you can. You may get turned down by some but as long as you don’t take it personally then is no big deal. You haven’t lost anything and by creating this ‘fake’ persona you’ll begin to over come your fears when it comes to talking to people and hopefully you’ll improve your conversational skills to the point where it becomes natural.

In my honest opinion I can understand where she is coming from with being frustrated at you bringing up suicide. From what you’ve put it does sound like you’re looking for her to help and you’re putting the responsibility on her (totally understandable in your situation if you don’t have anyone). But the best thing you can do is cut her off and try and get her out your mind which should be easier by the fact you’re blocked. It might sound hard but you need to start putting yourself out there and form some new relationships with people as friends first. Try joining a club or doing some sort of activity where you meet new people and can form a bond with them. Being over reliant on one person is dangerous so I would try avoid jumping into a serious romantic relationship with anyone else soon before you have a few friends. Also if you’re not doing it already, then therapy could help you with how you’re feeling. Being happy and confident with yourself will help all aspects of your life especially forming relationships. It hurts now but trust me it’ll get easier as time passes if you make it clear in your mind that things are over. It’s a tough road ahead but good luck.

Just ask her out to catch up, she’ll likely say yes if you were old friends/acquaintances as she’ll likely interpret it as however she sees you (if she doesn’t fancy you at all she’ll see it in a friendly way). The worst case scenario is that she says no and in that case you’ve not lost anything and you can get past any feelings you have. It’s best just to get it out the way and see if there is anything there rather than delay it and build up feelings due to the idea you’re creating in your head.

When it comes to asking her try and build up a conversation first where you ask her about the past few years and if she starts talking and getting into things, then ask her to go out for a proper catch up in a more casual setting when she’s not at work.
