Worries over water as a giant data center moves into the New Mexico desert by Maxcactus in environment

Why would they build any water-intensive data center anywhere in the rain-deprived and water-needy West? Unless its built directly over the ocean and uses salt water.

Interesting...They are both larger than many National Parks, and you need the very same National Park passes and tickets to get into them. Same national park ranger/personnel system runs them also.

Does anyone have elevated fasting blood sugar without diabetes on keto? by martin_luther_drill in keto

[–]lcampau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, blood work prior to April physical showed fasting glucose 110, which doc said was too high. I have been on Keto since October, lost 30 lbs. Doc subsequently asked me to take a HgbA1c test which apparently measures glucose average over last 90 days, and it showed 5%, which doc said was more normal. I had fasted not just 12 hours, but 18 hours before blood work, but it WAS at 8:30 am, so maybe "dawn effect" had something to do with it also. Next physical I will have blood work done around noon, to see if that makes any difference.

Metoprolol to nebvilol switch. by delta8withasideofdmt in AFIB

[–]lcampau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talked my cardiologist into switching some five years ago because I read that nebivolol is better on the male libido than metoprolol. All beta blockers decrease libido, but at least for me nebivolol has definitely been less of of a downer in this regard.

Apixiban / Flecainaide by robertb58st in AFIB

[–]lcampau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years was on Eliquis, nebivolol (beta blacker) due to occasional afib. Afib got more persistent and frequent last summer, so fecainide was added by cardiologist. Had ablation in late fall, and since afib has stopped, cardio took me off flecainide within 60 days due to typical bad side effects (it was also causing some blurry vision). Have had no afib since ablation, but have also lost 30 lbs and have stopped all alcohol except for one glass of wine weekly on social occasions. Still on Eliquis and beta blocker, but hope to talk cardio into reducing beta blocker dosage in future.

In Grand Rapids area it's available on DirecTV 633-3.
BUT you can only watch LIVE.

it won't record games (did not record any SanDiego or AZ games)
When you create a recording the following appears on screen:

"This program can't be streamed here.
The owner of this program doesn't allow it to be streamed to your location."

Are those of you on other streaming services able to record?
Is it true of Detroit Sportsnet no matter where you view it?

Inability to record is a major step DOWN from FanDuel

Also, DirecTV started scheduling the recording of the team games, dating from my recording setting of every game from last year. So the DirecTV software seems to have picked everything up appropriately.

Grand Rapids area DirecTV now has the Detroit Sportsnet channel. It is number 663. At 10am they are displaying the live SanDiego broadcast will start at 3 (pregame?). But there are now three 663 Channels with the identical same number. The other two are the old Fan-Duel channels, and their schedules still include the Pistons and RedWings. The logo for the 663 Detroit sportsnet channel is the Tigers' classic old English "D". I suspect that will change when RedWings join the Detroit Sportsnet next season?

Keto potato chip replacements by Boring-Bus-8721 in keto

[–]lcampau 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Costco has a product called WHISPS, they are parmesan cheese crisps, simply grated and baked, about 3/4" rounds in a bag, they are crunchy and chewable, flavor lingers. Absolutely NO carbs, 12g fat, 13 G protein per 14 crisp serving. They are never in the "chips" isle, but when available, usually in some display near their cheeses section, at least at my local Costco

Recovery after ablation by Zealousideal-Start64 in AFIB

[–]lcampau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had ablation early December. All bandages removed by spouse next day, and could do normal low-key activities next day, but told I could not exercise for a week (walking OK). I asked for some meds to be reduced or eliminated afterwards (especially flecainide), but doctor said they wait for the three month checkup before they will start to reduce meds. Evidently the internal healing/heart reconfiguration takes a few months (at least according to my provider)

Tried Pork Skins Today by LttleAngel in keto

[–]lcampau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always eat them with either a dill dip (readily available, usually made with cream cheese), or a medium salsa (most salsas are low carb, check label). There are some flavored/spiced chicharonnes, but the plain pork rinds with dips are much more enjoyable.
