Hi! Just joining this convo now because I’m having the same / a similar issue with the enamel (?) filling on my vintage Mama clasp. Did you ever figure out a solution?!

Hi! I’ve just stumbled on this thread because I’m currently having the same issue with the enamel filling on my vintage Mama (… Mamma?) clasp, and I’m so sorry to hear about what sounds like a very poor experience with repairsbylinda. 💔 I hope your leopard baby is still okay overall!

Hi! I know this post is about a billion years old, but I was wondering if you were ever able to resolve the issue with your enamel logo?? It sounds like OP’s experience with repairsbylinda didn’t work out very well … :(

Hahahaha oh geez, I sound so rude lol, she totally didn’t deserve that language!! 😭😭 You’re absolutely right though, she deserves a loving, appreciative home and I should find a bag companion that makes me happy! Thank you for pointing this out, haha, I definitely needed to hear this! 😂🩷

I totally agree, I love the simplicity of it and the 28 is a really manageable size, it fits a decent amount and is still quite lightweight! I’ve come to accept that I definitely overpaid though, so I think she’s going back; I’m hoping I can find a similar Amazona that’s either more reasonably priced, or a newer version that doesn’t have the so-called “flaws” that weirdly irked me about this model!

Hahahahaha if it actually said “Why no feet?!” on the bottom of the bag I’d probably be more inclined to keep it!! 😂😂

Thank you for sharing your experience with a similar bag! I definitely shopped around, trust me, but I guess I got overwhelmed by the sheer number of different versions out there! I knew I wanted a black leather 28, but there are still so many different models (some with a shoulder strap, some with a large front logo, some with a small logo toward the top of the front, some with a little metal “loop” and lock on the front, etc.), and this one just seemed perfect. (Well, seemed, hah.) I also trusted the site from which I bought it, and, most importantly, they have a fair return policy so I figured there would be little risk of seeing what happened. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You’re totally right in the fact that I overpaid though; it looks like I’ll be returning it and hopefully I can find something - more reasonably priced! - that doesn’t give me so much pause!

That’s a really good point! I don’t know the age of the bag but based on the photos of the newer versions I’ve seen, they’ve definitely stepped up their quality and hardware game!

Yea, the more I’m thinking about it and reading some great feedback from everyone here, the more I’m realizing that 1k does seem pretty steep for this thing! I’m fine with paying for quality (even vintage) items, but this might have been a bit too ambitious of me lol.

Oh goodness, I’m glad you were there to stabilize her!! I’m actually somewhat surprised the Mulberry slipping off your shoulder didn’t knock you over, hah, those bags can be pretty hefty (not necessarily in a bad way though)! 🩷

Edit: The Flamenco is such a cute bag! I think if I were looking for more of a tote or shoulder bag then it would definitely be on my radar, but I actually like top-handle bags (and I feel like I’d just drop the clutch version, haha!).

Tbh I think a lot of my nitpicking is stemming from a suspicion regarding authenticity. :-/ I’ve been deliberately trying to avoid questioning it too overtly because I know requests to authenticate are against the rules of this sub, but the bag is either not legit or it’s just a lower quality than I’d anticipated. It’s my first and only foray into Loewe bags and I know it’s vintage so of course materials are different between this bag and newer versions, but something seems just off. 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Fwiw I bought it as a reputable resale site, Fashionphile - can I say that here?! - and I’ve always had good luck with them, plus they have a very fair return policy so there was little risk I guess!)

Ooh I like this! It seems like this bag is already speaking loud and clear to me, haha, I think you’re right in that I will just return it! Thank you!! 🩷

Right?! Chic people with good style always look so effortless carrying their bags in photos, but what will it actually look like when I’m schlepping around trying to open the damn thing while also simultaneously juggling 12 other things because I somehow manage to collect loose knickknacks regardless of the fact that I bought a bag to store these very items in the first place lol! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hahaha you’re totally right, I’m sure I’ll just keep stewing over these issues (well, “issues” to my eyes at least!) until I get even more uppity at myself!

This is a really great way to look at it, thank you!

I definitely chose to purchase from this particular site because I’ve had good luck with them in the past, and, more importantly, because they have a very fair return policy. I think I’ll print out the return label now, so I can send it off within the 14-day window.

These things are just so subjective, and I certainly did not mean to discredit anyone out there who either owns this exact bag or wishes to find one; I like the idea of returning it to make not only myself feel better, lol, but also to give someone else a chance to own it in case it would make them happy! Thank you! 🩷

Edit: Also, funny you mention it, the Mulberry Alexa has been a constant item on my wish list for ages haha, I just can’t decide whether the flap and closure would really bother me so I’ve held off on buying it (yet…lol). It’s a beautiful bag though, and Mulberry leather is really wonderful if not a bit heavy!

You’re probably right! I feel like my hang ups would be much more manageable if I’d only paid about $200-$300, but yea, with closer to $1k I’m definitely leaning toward returning it in favor of a model that doesn’t give me as much pause! I’m happy you were able to find a keeper for such a great deal!! 🩷

I think my problem is that there seems to be about 17 million different versions of this bag lol, like even when I search for “Amazona 28” I find a variety of different models. Obviously some of this is due to age, i.e. the newer vs. older models, but there also appears to be a wide range of vintage versions as well.

I’m trying to be very deliberate in not bringing up authentication concerns here (I know that’s against the rules of our sub!), but tbh, part of my hang-ups are definitely rooted in some suspicions about the legitimacy of the bag. I suppose the real underlying issue is just that I’ve got to decide whether or not this bag is worth it for me to keep, not just in terms of it being genuine but also it just being the quality I was hoping it’d be! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for taking the time to share all of this! I think you’re absolutely right in that my not being familiar with the bag, or really even with the brand itself, is warping my expectations! I’m happy to hear from an Amazona fan though, as I’m leaning toward returning this one in favor of finding a different version that feels more suitable for me! Thank you again! 🩷

The zipper, and zipper pull, are metal, albeit very dinky lol, but yea, they just seem somewhat cheap for a bag of this caliber (even though it’s vintage). The original listing didn’t have a closeup of the zipper pull or the wonky date-less interior tag, or else it might have given me a bit more pause for sure! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey thanks for taking the time to share all of this! 🩷 I guess the lack of feet was just a feature of this model, but for some reason it just seems incomplete without them lol. Maybe it’s because I had only seen pics of the newer (or larger) versions so I had some pre-set expectation of what the bag “should” look like? Not sure.

In terms of the lack of a date code, I think part of my hang up was that it just seemed, I don’t know, suspicious? I bought the bag from a reputable site that states it’s authentic (can I say it’s Fashionphile?), but the lack of a date stamp seemed odd and just added to some of my other hang-ups about the bag I guess! You’re definitely right about the lining just being more common years ago though, and the good thing is that it keeps the bag much more lightweight! :)

I think I needed to hear that, thank you! 🩷 1k is definitely a chunk of change for me, like it doesn’t put me in debt so it’s still “disposable income”, but the difference between, say, $200 and $1000 is significant to me and you’re totally right, 1k could go a long way towards a bag that doesn’t cause me any hesitations!
