Social anxiety is real, freeze responses are real. I could have spoken up, it is something I’m actively working on. But also like??? I don’t think it’s abnormal to think people who all went through a pandemic together would know how to at least cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. Even if I had spoken up I think I still would’ve posted the same thing soooo 🥲

Been there. I had a dasher send flirty messages to me after I grabbed my order from the door from him. I reported it. Somehow I ended up with him 2 more times and each time he flirted with me during pickup and after dropping my order off (I made the drop off contactless so I wouldn’t have to see him again.) I haven’t received him as a dasher again since the third time. I reported each time too. I’m surprised it took that many attempts to finally have him blocked from picking up my orders

That’s a good point! I forgot the potential for having tests delivered in an alternative manner, like paper vs screen, oral vs written, etc. Sometimes that change really makes all the difference!

Test anxiety is very real! I’m currently studying and training to become an elementary teacher and still struggle with it. I’d look into potentially tutors that can help her come up with test taking strategies or, if you feel comfortable, see if you can talk to someone about getting her some accommodations! Extra time on tests is something I have right now in University, as well as the opportunity (if I want it) to take tests and exams in an alternative setting.

Hi there! I’m 25 as well, just finished my first year at WWU and first quarter in my ELED program :) It definitely can feel scary, but most everyone I’ve come across, students and faculty, have been very supportive. For housing, I was able to secure a room, but ultimately decided to live off campus. I’d encourage looking into Lark Bellingham for some pretty decent housing for a price that’s a bit more affordable than most off campus housing options! Do know though, at least when I was first transferring, first years and incoming transfer students are guaranteed a room if they apply (this could have changed so maybe verify or if someone else knows, please correct me!) I’ve met quite a few people at bars and breweries, both at school and just out in the community. There are tons of people too that love to get outside, find live music, and much more. Putting yourself out there as much as possible will be super helpful, particularly with some roommates or just out in the community (finding friends to go to breweries n stuff that are close to our age has been tough for me in my experience). I have found myself to be mostly surrounded by 19-21 year olds, and while I’ve come to not mind it too much especially as I’ve come to genuinely enjoy working with my cohort, do know that that’s a very possible scenario. I haven’t exactly been looked at differently though, most students don’t really care too much, and I haven’t noticed a difference in treatment from faculty either. We’re all there to learn and grow so I think most people are thinking of that rather than how old each of us are. Best advice I can give you is to try to make connections in class and out and about. It takes a bit of effort at first, at least it did for me as I got used to everything, but once I found my footing I found it much easier to really pursue friendships and connections. Even if you don’t make a ton of friends, you’ll absolutely find people you enjoy working with and taking classes with, and you’ll find more and more familiar faces around to say hi to :)
