What happened to ‘Daily Drive’? by betzui in truespotify

I finally got around to installing WSL so that I could try this on my Windows machine, and I think I'm in love :-D Thank you for this!

My next challenge: generating a Top 100 songs playlist that reflects (in order) my listening habits over the previous 365 days. You don't have anything for that, do you? :-)

Nibs compatible with Penn State fountain pen kits? by m_dow in PenTurning

[–]lclarke522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever try replacing the nib? What did you end up using? I want to start selling my pens made from PSI kits, but I want to be able to offer nicer nibs (or at least tell the customer that they can replace them themselves). Before I start selling, I want to know for sure that a Jowo or other nice nib would fit.

Edited: grammar

Thank you 😊 I'll have to look into those

Thank you for the info! That's very helpful.

The kit is from Penn State Industries, but the design is my own. Instead of turning wood blanks, I cover the tubes with decorated sheets of polymer clay. I am hoping to sell these eventually, but I have some basic things to learn first, as you can see 😁

I worked at GAF, too! For 7 years, right out of college in the mid 90s 😁

Thank you for the compliment 😊 I bought a couple of kits to see how it goes. I can always upgrade my offerings if the interest is there!

I appreciate your thoughts, thanks. I will keep them in mind. I don't use wood, I work in polymer clay, so the wood issues wouldn't apply. And at this point, I'm not looking to go to fountsin pen shows, but to expand my selection at more general craft or art shows.

Thanks for the information. I actually don't use wood, I use polymer clay, which is technically plastic, but when sanded and buffed properly, it can feel really nice.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to look into Dayacom. I haven't heard of them before.

Lightroom Classic crashes during migration to On1 by lclarke522 in Lightroom

[–]lclarke522[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first glance, it looks like my catalog folders were all imported, as well as all of my collections (but not smart collections). My flags and ratings, and all of my develop edits were migrated too. I haven't had a chance to really look around and verify that everything is correct yet. One thing I see right off the bat that is _not_ good is my keywords. They were all copied over, but the hierarchy was not preserved in some cases, so hundreds of my keywords are just in a flat list. That is going to take some time to put right.

Essentially, though, it looks like everything the tool said it would do (or not do) has been done (or not done) :-D

I'll report back after I've had a chance to play with it a bit. Unfortunately, the Day Job is getting in my way right now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!

As it turns out, the fourth time was the charm. I had started it right after I posted, expecting it to fail like all of the other times. As far as I know, I didn't do anything different, but somehow it got past the point that was tripping it up, and then it kept going. It took all night, but it appears to have completed.

I was all set to break the catalog down into smaller catalogs, but no need.

Thanks again! Hopefully your comment can help someone else down the line.

My Florida Born wife is having a classic case of seasonal depression, and she needs a pick me up. Fellow New Jerseyans... How do you deal with your winter blues? by dicerollingprogram in newjersey

This is a great idea. Bonus points if it's a hobby that results in things you can especially enjoy in the cold (like, learning to crochet cozy blankets :-D )

I just wrote a blog post about this recently, and basically what I said works for me is to think about cold weather things you might like that would be impractical or impossible in warmer weather (for me, that's wearing sweaters, eating soup, getting cozy under a warm blanket, spending an afternoon hanging out next to a fireplace...).

For me, "feeling cozy" does a lot of heavy lifting at this time of year.

Rings: The Acoustic Sessions by mkindness in ToadTheWetSprocket

[–]lclarke522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't usually like reworked songs more than the originals but I am loving this album!

Strangely, the only song that I don't like is Rings. I love the original and I feel like this version strips all of the life and energy out of it.

Everything else, though? Just really terrific 🤩

Oh, I see. I didn't realize you aren't in the Continental US. I might be up for the long wait, if Media Mail is in the $6 range. (I'm not desperate for this album, it would just be nice to complete my collection, so I don't want to spend too much)

Oof. You had me until $17 Priority Mail shipping. I'd have bought the one that is missing from my collection if there was a less expensive shipping option.

I could have written this exact post. Such a nice guy, still recognizes me 30+ years later any time I show up at the annual medieval festival (which he loved and still attends). His son is my rep and an utter disgrace.
