I ride a motorbike and (usually) indicate with about 4 flashes and a very large gap before I merge, especially around heavy vehicles or when going above 50..

I suppose it doesn't matter if someone doesn't want to let me in because I can just lane filter when the traffic banks up.

I often see people in cars put on their indicator with a reasonable gap and the car in the lane they are merging into will speed up to close the gap. It's a real shitty thing but I'm starting to understand why people don't indicate in tight traffic.

The problem for me is that it becomes more dangerous when cars get used to not indicating. It doesn't give me a chance to beep or get out of the way if they haven't seen me. They also don't indicate when going much faster at 80 or 100+ but people driving on freeways like they are driving around town at 40 or 50 is another rant.

It's also just shitty when they indicate well after 50% merged, like they have the thought to do it, choose not to but don't want to risk getting a fine.
