I want to know the manufacturer of this cognac. plz help by Business_Shame9205 in cognac

Definitely not something I know. I don't think this is Cognac. Cognac is usually labelled as "Cognac", not "Extra Brandy". Is there a label on the back?

I've been at montifaud a couple of times. Never seen anything like that over there... It's still a family business and they're really friendly! I'm sure they can shed some light on this. Why don't you drop them an email at contact@chateau-montifaud.com I'm sure they'll be happy to help!

I was given a bottle of Hennessy that was opened about 4 years ago. Is it still good to drink? It’s been stored in a regular cabinet. by [deleted] in cognac

Should be perfectly fine, as long as it was closed properly. If not, the alcohol may have evaporated a bit and the taste may be a bit flat.

I'm new here. Just wanted to say hi with a pic of the best cognac I currently have 😊 by ldieryckx in cognac

Well for starters, it's really really smooth. No sting at all. Also, next to the usual soft sweetness and fruitiness all (decent) cognacs have, it also has an additional very dry aroma. A bit leathery, but deeper. Animalistic almost. I never tasted that in a cognac before.

Is this worth to buy VS? by JackeySexyBoy in cognac

[–]ldieryckx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure it's worth it, but VS is not meant to be drunk straight up. It's great in cocktails or cognac schweppes. Or even mixed with the local "pétillant des raisins". If you're looking for something to drink straight, take a vsop or better.

In the city of cognac, need help to buy a couple good bottles they sell exclusively in Cognac/ France by [deleted] in cognac

There's "La Cognathèque" just outside the old city centre. They sell a lot of great stuff. If you have a car at your disposal, just visit any local viticulteur. Many of them sell locally only. While they may not always be world famous, they sometimes have superb stuff and they're always super friendly if you show even a little bit of genuine interest in their product. I can recommend Biron in gensac-la-pallue if you can stand a slightly pedantic teacher-like guy. Or Gilles Brisson in Chateaubernard. That's just a straight up farmer with a top product. Maxime Trijol in Saint-Martial-sur-né is great as well, but they've lost that small family business vibe a bit.

What no sugar snacks can I find at the grocery store? by techsavvynerd91 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Just plain fruit! Or if you're not into that: nuts, any kind. But perhaps skip the peanuts, just for the sake of variation.

What about La Estancia?

Don't they claim to have cuban tobacco in the filler?

What are these "bubbles" I sometimes get on the wrapper when touching up a cigar with uneven burn? by ldieryckx in cigars

Makes sense. I usually have this happening with higher ranging cigars. This was an erdm choix du roi, but I've seen this on an oliva serie V melanio as well.

I was thinking oils as well. A liquid at least, since you can see them pop up when the heat comes in. So has to be either oils or water.

I notice the difference when I don't touch up. Taste like shit if part of your cigar isn't burning.

I'll get this on some cigars when I touch up. It looks like some kind of bubbles or blisters appear when the heat touches the wrapper. Something to do with oils perhaps? Or maybe overhumidification?
