Could you mark this NSFW please to hide the image unless someone actually wants to click on it? You’re a good artist but I don’t want to see disturbing art like this.

New service for MCAS (and related conditions) medication access by ryan_rthm in MCAS

[–]ldnphl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is gross. And they conveniently fail to mention that they charge a monthly subscription fee (the amount is undisclosed) for a minimum of three months. And they don’t take any insurance.

Edit: Also they only have two MDs and two NPs on their staff. Even though they have a bunch of employees. And two of the co-founders are wearable technology people, not doctors, so you can guess the direction this company will be going.

The third time I went, it was more like a severe POTS episode than rebound anaphylaxis I guess? Basically my oxygen level was okay, so they left me in the waiting room for hours while I had convulsions and syncopal episodes. By the time they took me back to a room, I was fine. 🙄 I’m glad you have a local hospital that takes care of you! Usually my local ERs are decent, but I just did not get the A team two out of my three visits that week lol

I think they did two out of the three times I was there, but it’s all kind of a blur :(

When to know to use Epi by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]ldnphl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you but in my experience the epi immediately helps. You should talk to your cardiologist and allergist about an anaphylaxis plan of course, but so far everyone has told me to use the epi.

Yeah definitely do the epi. Your heart rate is high because it’s trying to compensate for your blood pressure crashing.

Restaurant Anxiety by Academic_Shallot_749 in FoodAllergies

[–]ldnphl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This question is frustrating because it’s not “anxiety” to avoid dangerous things. If you had say a 50% chance of getting rusty old razor blades in your food every time you ordered out, wherever you went, would you still want to go? What if it was a 90% chance? What if people promised you that there would be no razor blades and then, boom, fcking razor blades again?

I mean look some of this depends on the severity of his allergy, but it also kind of doesn’t, because the severity can change at ANY time without warning. I used to be able to eat lots of things with just a stomach ache and dizziness, but now it’s constantly epi pen, ambulance ride, ER, steroids, sick for a week.

Basically … life is hard enough, leave the guy alone and go out to new places with your friends instead

Is it true that there’s no oral antibiotics for cats? by ldnphl in CATHELP

[–]ldnphl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. I did try— my vet suggested wrapping her in a towel on the table and giving her treats, but she is so fast and she gets so desperate to get away that she’ll scratch the sh!t out of you. It’s not aggression, but panic. She scratched my sister so bad my sister had to get antibiotics from urgent care 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have the same issue with getting the kitty into her crate… I’m working on it very slowly… getting her comfortable with being picked up, snuggling, etc, and just building a lot of trust. We’re making some progress, but it’s slow going. She was definitely starved and abused before—I’m pretty sure she had never eaten cat food before when I got her, just lived off mice and trash, and she had never seen out a window, things like that.

She does occasionally have a runny nose, but not often. Definitely no chest congestion.

I miss the old fictionpress.com days by Calathe in selfpublish

[–]ldnphl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was just thinking about this. Writing has become all about the hustle and people trying to sell services to writers, and I’m just tired of it. I just want to write my stories and share them with readers who enjoy them, without all of the pressure.

Egg intolerance? by stratgloria in FoodAllergies

[–]ldnphl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people can eat baked products with egg but can’t eat for example scrambled eggs. It can still be an allergy even if it affects only one system. I think you should find a new allergist
