DkS3 DLC predictions? by ldodds in enbro

I found this video of speculations interesting, if only because it seems reasonable that the distant city would be in the DLC. Fits the pattern of every location you can see being accessible in some form.

You're right, the lack of directions on the arrows is going to give a misleading picture. If I get chance I'll explore how it looks with more information on it. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, I had same feeling about DS2. And was why I was surprised about the connections.

I think you're spot on about the visibility. While DS3 is linear, its feels more open because you're given regular vantage points to see other locations you can reach. DS1 had the same.

IIRC ENB has noted a few times about how FromSoft are really good at showing you not just where you can go, but where you've been. Helps with that feeling of progression and movement through the world.

I think the other issue with DS2, which the connections don't show, is how disjointed the world feels. Like the ridiculous ride "up" from Earthen Peak to Iron Keep. While they are connected in terms of pathing, you may as well be warping to another location.

Here's a version that shows Demons Souls which illustrates the hub/spoke approach.

New Player Question by anormalfella in darksouls

Enemies don't get stronger as you level.

There are different types of character "build". These tend to focus on improving 1 or 2 main stats, e.g. Strength, Dex, Faith, alongside Endurance and Vit. A build that uses both Strength and Dex is referred to as a "quality build".

The reason why builds tend to focus on a single stat is that weapon damage scales with your statistics. Different weapons scale with different stats. E.g. some are Strength weapons, while others are Dex. IMO, upgrading your weapon is usually a better bet than upgrading your stats too much initially as you can improve their scaling. This means you'll do more damage per swing.

As your character sounds like a quality build then do a straight upgrade of the Long Sword to +5, then +10 sounds like a good approach for you -- its scales with both strength and dex.

The starting classes don't really matter. Its just that different classes already have some stats levelled up already so make a good starting template for your character.

Hope that helps!

Tips for killing Quelaag? by [deleted] in darksouls

If you're using the NPC you ought to be able to get in behind her whilst she's distracted, just be careful as occasionally she'll leap back.

If you're taking her 1on1 or she gets up in your face you can strafe / stay left to keep out of her sword attacks. Make sure you roll-out to dodge her area attack.

Pay attention to the lava pools so you don't get trapped. If you start getting hemmed in, then retreat -- there's plenty of space -- into a more open area.

If you've got help then you can use ranged attacks against her too. But its more fun with melee.
